    Atari 2600 cartridge question

Hi i have 2 loose carts for Atari 2600 which are Breakout and Asteroids they seem to have a dust protector or cover something like that blocking me from checking the cartridges condition inside how do you remove these cover things without damaging the cartridge ?

Most/all 2600 games have those and they are not intended to be removed. When you insert the cartridge into a 2600 it automatically retracts.

Might be a way to insert a small slit of plastic into both slots to open it up but do not force it.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

Use a small slotted screwdriver, hold in either slot then push in the dust cover. Be careful not to push the dust shield all the way in when cleaning, the spring inside might pop off its tracks.
