cga2vga scaler help

Hi everyone

I bought a cga2vga scaler so that I can play my rgb consoles like my gamecube, megadrive, snes etc on my monitor however I get a picture quality that looks blurry and gainy which looks more like composite then RGB and I also get a slight flickering image too.
Can someone please help me

How can I get my console to work on my samsung sync master P2450 and get a RGB quality picture?
any help would be much appreciated

First of all i would say it's normal to have a blurry image on your monitor. The best case scenario is a Gamecube outputing at 576i and then upscaled and strechted to 1920 x 1080 (your monitor native resolution). Your upscaler, the GBS-8220/1 is Chinese electronic at it's best and it's performance are OK. I can also say by experience that Samsung do not put great DSP in their monitors/TV for upscaling.

There are good chances that changing the output resolution will improve the final result.

For the flickering, of course, check all cables if they are well connected. Another thing I read is that the GBS-8220/1 requires alot of current. If I remember well your power supply should output at least 2A. I got a cheap 5V/2.5A power supply for like 6$ shipped on eBay and it's working great. The diameter of the center pin of the power connector is 2.1mm. Most power supplies on eBay have a center hole of 2.5mm which is perfect. Good luck!

Thanks for the help I haven't been able to get the dam thing to work so instead of running on a monitor I am going to use a TV along side my monitor instead, it just saves a lot of hassle

I have the same scalar and have found it to be finicky with my setup as well. I ended up springing for an XRGB2+ and haven't looked back.

make sure the chipset is an actual gonbes and not something like a myson chip.
Also, make sure you calibrate the geometry and saturation. The default settings are all off if you're using it on a TV.
