Japan Mega Cd games not loading properly

Hi I recently picked up a Mega Cd that will turn on, spin the mega cd's and in the user screen show that it recognized that it has a proper CD. But when I click to start the game, the cd spins for about 3 seconds and stops then the screen freezes. The led's are still lit, and the 'access' lights is still flashing. Any Ideas? Also messing around with it for awhile it did actually load the game only to the software developer then froze again. It acts like it wants to work, but just wont!

I have 'cleaned' the laser and inspected the board nothing seems to be out of place. Any help would be appreciated! I can hardly wait to play Devistator! Thanks!

Just to clear the obvious out, is it a Japanese MegaCD?

Replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the unit (if you cannot do so, find a technician who can).

The issue is that poor voltage filtering (due to faulty capacitors) are causing read errors on the CD drive.

The symptoms are pretty misleading as they make you believe the unit is having optical pickup issues.
