Ss White WTB: Modded Sega Saturn

I'm looking to buy a modded Sega saturn. I need it to be able to play burned CDs - I'm interested in playing the Shining Force translations on real hardware. Any reasonable offer will be considered.

When the doctor asked me, if I heard voices in my head, the voices said "tell him no!"

Under normal circumstances I'd be happy to sell you one (I'm in California) but the Saturns I have on hand are mostly non-functional.

If you can find a Saturn on your own I'll happily sell you a modchip that only has 1 wire required for functionality. No soldering required though I'd suggest it so the wire doesn't move.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

Mine is a nice boxed white JPN one with just mod chip. Except I've got no replacement right now (even busted), this would make all these games unplayable a while. And getting another means postage from Japan... So I'd honestly be difficult to convince to sell. Though money talks as they say.

Besides my intent is sending it to APE sooner or later for more work.

I could send one but I'm in Europe and I only have PAL machines. Technically I can mod one to 60hz and to use NTSC color, but that still leaves the power supply a problem - and shipping prices would be rape.

It looks like i'm going to go ahead and accept Mack702's offer. I'm not sure how to close topics, but thanks for all the advice.

No problem. It's not easy to get a so-called "complete" modded system. Saturn independently handles region code, NTSC/PAL color, copy protection, and 50/60hz. Modding any of these four aspects WON'T affect the others. Modchip by itself won't play original imports, or run PAL optimized titles properly (since they'd be stuck at 60hz).

Well I have a US model 1 with a Pro Action Replay plus that I play imports on. Most of my collection is US NTSC, except for Deep Fear, which plays fine on my system. This modded model is pretty much solely to play Shining Force III Scenarios 2 and 3 in english on proper hardware. Mark702 is selling me a modded White JPN Model 2, which is actually the style I was looking for. I should be pretty set on any saturn games which come my way, and if I ever needed to actually pick up a PAL system, I have ways of playing those on an NTSC TV.

One wire for power and all you have to do is insert ribbons in different fashions depending on which Saturn you have and which chip you get. Model 2s only.
