SD card advice
So, a co-worker here somehow managed to get a 16GB SDHC card locked and then broke the lock. I wasn't really a part of the problem solving that he did to fix it. So, being the rash human being he is, he declares the card a loss, and then takes to cutting the card open for curiosities sake. What was inside was this half-height guy with all the pins (pic's below), no green board like I was expecting (from pics on the internet). He throws it at me and walks off. So, I figure, here drops a perfectly good card for putting in my EverDrive64 (still on its way, I'm excited!) as I won't have to put a slot in the top (not that it'd be a big deal to do that).
So I tape a piece of cardboard to the thing, put it in my computer, was able to view all the files, but it's still locked. I can't delete, reformat, or add files to it. What gives? I thought the locks on SD cards were only plastic sliders? I can't seem to find any information on how this works. Besides the normal rectangle pins usually associated with a full-size SD card or adapter, there's a tone of copper circles, and a small triangle in the other corner.
Is this card salvageable? I couldn't find anything out of his destroyed outer shell for this that would seem useful for causing a connection, though, I'll admit the think happened in an intensive scissor fury that pieces literally went flying everywhere.
Anyone that's had an experience inside these things, I'd love to hear what they have to say. Thanks heaps!
