    Anyone seen a Bravia KDL-22PX300?

I think they were only released in Europe by Sony.
Point is, I'll be collecting Sony, and that is a fairly important PS2 hardware variation I'll need to get. I can't find them on eBay, and have no idea what generation of console it is. I'd really like to know whether is has HDD support or not, and how big the panel is.

    Any info is appreciated!

I remember people were not too impressed. The image quality from the PS2 was poor and the TV was only 720p. You'd be better to search the net for some good reviews on NONE PS2 and Sony fan site for the full picture.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 inside of that set is equivalent to the SCPH-9000x series, with v2.30 BIOS that locks out Free McBoot, and no support for HDD.

    Awww, no fun.
Still, I've got to make a complete collection.

Thanks Yakumo. It's just 720p, but really I have no issue with 720p. I use a 720p tv with my PS3 and it looks fine. Partially because the PS3 can only do 720 or less in games, but I'm not a real picture quality critic (unless it's clearly bad). I'll go on some Sony sites to see what people say about it.

Well, 1080p is a very big step on up on a large screen, but you're right many games only support 720p. Depends what you really want really man.

I suggest whirlpool forums for product reviews, most of them are quite good.

If Sony has followed their regular naming scheme, the panel should be 22".

Wasn't the KDL-22PX300 released quite recently, like 2 years ago or something like that? Considering that and what's been said in this thread about its popularity, it might be worth to investigate if some dealer somewhere still has a stock they've been unable to sell? It's not like it was expensive, and a 22" TV isn't all that big or heavy, so probably it wouldn't break your bank to get it shipped from Europe either.

Exactly. Rare PS2 hardware that not a lot of people know about will be worth something in the future for sure.
But 22"? Really? That's brutally small for a TV. I prefer TV's between 32" and 47". My parents recently splurged on a 60" TV, but refuse to buy HD programs- so now the SD TV channels we get look like utter shit.
But on topic, 720p on a 22" screen shouldn't look that bad. If I'm used to a 32" @ 720p then this should be fine. However, I probably won't even use it if it comes in the box.

60" TV with only SD shows?? That's crazy. There is no SD TV in Japan any more so we can only see a SD image if we use old game consoles or video tapes or even DVD at 480p.

To tell the truth, I play mu 360 in 720p as well. Games run in 1080p but some have screen tear issues so 720p is the safe option. BluRay in 1080p and a big screen really kick arse though. I love to close all the curtains, whack up the surround sound and pop in a BluRay and just enjoy the cinema life when my wife and son aren't home.

A 720p screen is as close to ideal for PS2 as you're going to get in the modern world, a 1080p screen will only make it look worse.

Pretty sure member Joe Musashi has, or had, one of these.

Yakumo- 7.1 sounds epic with blu-ray quality video on that TV. I've got a 1tb HDD plugged into the back of the TV with loads of MKV's on it of my favourite Ghibli's in the best possible quality. I'm blown away by how epic they look.
Too bad it's just a handful of times a year my parents let me have the house to myself and the tenant is gone. If it was more I'd be out of anime to watch!

And on topic again- I'll go chat with this Joe character and see what he's all about.
Just kidding, but I will talk to him about it, and getting one.

Edit- Wait- japan dropped sd tv? Wow I wish. Canada, home to the slowest and highest priced internet (3rd world countries have better speeds) still has SD channels. We got a digital box from Shaw (cable provider) but it really hasn't helped much. I've been begging them to get HD channels, and sadly with some phone, internet and TV bundles we would be paying LESS- not only for TV but also for internet. I can't comprehend why we are stuck with the crap I have to deal with.

Japan have been at the front of the HD thing for a while, they had Hi-Vision broadcasting & MUSE Laserdisc (1080i) in the early 90's!.

It didn't catch on until now...but they had it yo.

But yeah, I'm really waiting for the HD upgrade, should it ever come.

Ran a search and I got nadda from google,

from what I can remember whatever I read was pretty so-so on it i.e. if you wanted a TV you wouldn't buy this, if you wanted a console you wouldn't buy this etc... Performance was average at best. They were curious as to just who it was marketed to.

Someone did make a thread about it: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums...-Bravia-PS2-TV

Pretty sure this was also UK-only.

I though so. Looks like I'll go look around for UK Sony retailers.
