hey you pikachu microphone

Recently I've been wanting to play Hey You Pikachu! and while I do have the VRU which you plug into the fourth controller port I have no microphone. Do I need to buy one designed for the game such as the one linked below or will any microphone work with a simple adapter?

I think a regular microphone will work fine.
You can look for a cheap mic' at DealExtreme for testing.
