Are the DSP chips from PAL and NTSC carts identical?

Ordered a Super ED a few days ago, and once I get it, I'll add a DSP chip to it.

I've got a US Pilotwings cart that I'm thinking of using as DSP chip donor. My SNES however, is a PAL one, so I thought it might be a good idea to see if anyone happen to know if there are problems to be expected from doing that, just so I don't butcher that cart for nothing. Basically, what I'm wondering is if the DSP chips are identical between NTSC and PAL releases of the same game or not?

Also, I've read that you need a clock oscillator. Can I take the one from my US Pilotwings cart and use in my PAL SNES, or is the DSP clocked higher in US carts?

I don't see why they would be different. As long as it says DSP-1, DSP-1A, or DSP-1B on the chip then it should work perfectly fine.

Neither do I really, just wanted to double check :)

Anyways, it just occurred to me that if there's any difference after all, it'll just be a "NTSC ED" so to say. Worst case scenario is that I'll have to region mod my SNES.

Right that's recommended. That SNES will normally force all those nice import roms into 50hz.

I've used the Japanese version of Pilotwings as the doner for the DSP1, XTAL and hex inverter (74HCU04) on the super everdrive running on a PAL SNES, I don't think the region of the doner dsp makes a difference.
