IF there is a Final Fantasy VII Remake (AND THAT IS IF)

Frankly I hope Square doesn't waste money and resources remaking Final Fantasy VII. Shit's overrated However a friend and I were discussing remakes and how he thinks (and therefor Everyone on earth) that the remake should be for a Next Gen Console.

I HOWEVER think if it was remade it should be for the 3DS since A) It'll likely be cheaper and B) probably sell better and be a more unique experience.

I'll throw up a poll and let you weigh in.

I love the game dearly but I hated the art style of crisis core and advent children. It all got a bit emo.

I think a remake would adopt these things and I'd dislike it for that reason. That said I'd love to see it happen and for me it'd have to be on a next gen console. The original was a show off piece and I'd like the remake to be the same.

No Reason for the console versions not to have 3d but I was always hoping it would be remade for the DS and putting it on 3ds would just make it a unique experence and freshen up a game that I honestly do not think has aged well.

I'm still waiting for the remakes of V and VI to go with that awesome DS version of IV.

Seven would be on Vita, probably.

I'd say is overrated, but I really should have this nose thing checked out.

Even though I thought VII was okay, I never felt like it was a great game. I'd much rather see remakes of VIII or IX. They were far superior to VII, even if VIII's story was a little bland.

IF there were a remake I agree the 3DS would be the be the likely platform.

I suspect a LOT of the people who want a remake did not play this when it came out (no disrespect meant Twimfy)

It has it's moments and is rightly a touchstone of modern gaming but a remake wouldn't get me to buy it again after grabbing it from PSN.

It would have to be on a next gen console. Because if it wasn't. That'd just be a waste of Square's time. People want to see a giant leap in a complete remake.
It's not like with FFIII/IV which were 2D games. Their 3D remakes looked pretty good because of that.

The 3DS is graphically on par with the Gamecube/PS2(almost), it would cut out part of it's audience entirely because of one of:
    A) "The 3DS SUCKS, it hasn't sold more than the DS in less than a year. Which makes it a failure."
    B)"The 3DS Is for kids!"
C)"Why didn't they do it on the VITA? I'm such a hardcore gamer, I play madden and Call of duty all day! Cater to me squenix!"

Ok that last one didn't seem quite right.

Anyway, being serious. I think the smartest move would be for a home console with flashy new features like graphics and whatnot to capitalize on new technology and hardware, as a showcase. And plus people will see "OMG FFVII WITH ADVENT CHILDREN QUALITY GRAPHICZ! MUST BAI(buy)!" (And of course, it would HAVE to also include the OG soundtrack as an option. )

It will ensure that specific platform's rein of doom over everything else.(god forbid they make it multi-platform and the end result ends up not taking the best advantage of whatever platform it's own because they want "Platform Parity" or "The same experience across the board", Fuck that shit.)

The one thing I hope it doesn't do when it eventually comes out, is raise the price of the original game. Rather drive it down.
I don't understand how people can not get that it has over 10 million copies in print and they think it's RARE or worth something. It shouldn't be, it should be worth like 8-20$ used. A bit more complete and of course even more if Sealed.

What I REALLY don't understand is WHY Square enix STOPPED printing copies of the game. They'd still be selling ! It doesn't make sense considering Square Enix still is selling new copies of , IX, Anthology,Chronicles, Chrono Cross and Origins.
Maybe because the game was published by SCEA in the US?

I'm hoping this whole "10th Anniversary of X" thing doesn't turn out to be a joke with a half assed lazy up-rez port" first.

If they did, they should leave it mostly intact maybe apart from adding uses for those items that had no use, more gold saucer mini games. and maybe making the graphics a little bit smoother etc maybe just needs to be in HD or something?

They already confirmed that's exactly what it's going to be.

Man, we all thought VII was so awesome back in the day. It's such a 90s gem.

But VI is superior, and V and VI should still get remakes - which would be awesome.

Still, I'm with Vosse on this one. VII would not be made for 3DS because "h4rdk0r3 gamerZ" and shit. (Do "Hardcore" gamers still use leetspeak?" Man, I'm old)

And those new-generation call-of-duty/madden-playing "gamers" would still not buy it "because it's got that faggy Japanese anime shit and I'm manly and gangsta".

It's been hyped so much for so long, that if that remake ever does come out, it's going to be a massive clusterfuck no mater what.

I've never played VII, but I kinda feel like it's too late for me. Because it's so popular, I already know major spoilers, and everyone always talks about how poorly it's aged.

I almost NEED to wait for an HD remake.

Yeah right. If they ever do a remake, it's gonna sell truckloads.

You say this on a forum that disavows the TG16, and says anything less than RGB is shit.

Maybe, but there's a difference between that and this elitist crap where you try to put yourself into some kind of upper caste because other people don't like the same things as you. It's especially funny when you're talking about an artistically devoid and shallow form of entertainment like video games.

Never played a FF game after the SNES incarnations. I don't feel that my life is lacking in any way/shape form for not having done so.
    Overrated franchise beyond belief.

It's actually a pretty fun, silly game, storyline wise. Absolutely nothing like all the DEEP EMOTIONS crap it is remembered as (there's a whole crossdressing chapter and a part where they want Tifa to mate with a dog). Gameplay wise it's pretty solid too. I'm thinking of playing it again myself.

However it is extremely easy. Mostly because you can sell mastered materias for absolute crazy dough, and with all the random encounters you'll surely have a set of master level "all" materia by disc 2, which sells for enough cash to last you the end of the game even if you buy everything you encounter.
