C64 - .d64 to floppy disks?

Howdy,

Recently i picked up a C64 and disk drive on ebay. I have a x1541 serial cable. Can anyone recommend a good app to transfer a .d64 image using this cable to floppy disks? I've looked around but there's a while bunch of different ones. Recommend me the easiest and best one to use

Personally I would forget about transfering .d64 to floppy discs as it is a pain in the arse. Spend some money and get a SD2IEC or uIEC card so you can use an SD card instead of a pile of floppy discs. I got an SD2IEC from ebay for about 20 quid and it required five wire to be soldered, but you can get ones that use the floppy serial cable and the tape port for power. Once you get your head around the syntax for the DOS then it is a breeze, it emulates the floppy drive at it's correct speed so it is slow as hell, just like the real thing.

Sorry, are you trying to transfer files computer -> c64 Hardware or vice-versa?

The tool for the job (provided you have an X1541 or XE1541 cable, and not some other variant), is Star Commander.

Second. I have one and it's great. I even soldered a DIN pass through cable to it so I can use my floppy drive if I want. You can copy D64 to disks in this way but it will take a while.

Also, while we're on SD2IEC, I wrote a program a while back that auto generates all the autoswap .lst files for your disks (so that the SD2IEC can support disk swapping).
