    Game shops in Seattle, WA

I'm going to be in Seattle for a few days over spring break (March 10-14), and I was wondering if anyone who's been there or lives there could suggest some cool game shops to go to - retro game shops, preferably. If you say Gamestop I will pierce your skull with an arrow of a thousand stars.

Anyway, I'm thinking about moving there. That's why I'm visiting. So any other suggestions you might have for stuff to do while I'm there would also be appreciated. I'd really like to find a cool record shop, for instance.

I haven't been there in a few years. But I do remember that there was a neat record store where the Jimi Hendrix Statue was.

    If i'm remembering right anyway.

Don't know about any game shops.

The only game store I know of that would be interesting is called "Pink Gorilla" (formerly 'Pink Godzilla') in the International District. Look them up. Cool store, however, a bit on the pricey side with some of their items. But definitely worth checking out.

It seems they've expanded quite a bit since I've been in Seattle. They now have 3 locations! It used to be just a tiny little store next to a karaoke bar.

Looks interesting. I'll probably check that place out.

Oh, and another question: know any good arcades?

Shorty's and GameWorks are both downtown.

Also, a few minutes north of Seattle is a place called 'AFK Tavern' and it is AWESOME.

Ok, so I've been to GameWorks in Florida (it's called Gameroom now), and it was pretty cool. The one in Seattle is like a block from my hotel, so I'll definitely check it out. I looked at the Shorty's webpage, and it listed like 8 not very interesting games. I looked at the page for AFK Tavern and that looks interesting, but I'm not sure that it's an arcade per se. Is it? From what I can tell from the website, it looks like a bar/restaurant/meeting-place for videogame nerds - which is pretty cool in its own right, but does it have any arcade games?

Well, I'm back from Seattle. I had a pretty good time, and I got to see and do some cool stuff. As far as gaming related stuff goes, the GameWorks there was really cool - they had lots of newer games as well as older games. Everything was in good, working condition. I played L.A. Machineguns and Star Wars Trilogy extensively. They even had some candy cabs.

I went to Pink Gorilla Games, and man, that place is awesome. They had some really cool stuff. I got there like 15 minutes before it closed, so I didn't have too much time to browse, but it was still really cool. I had a nice conversation with the girl who works there. I ended up getting 3 Saturn games - Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2 (which I already had, but which no longer loads), and Virtua Fighter Remix (which I had, but lost). I also got a Saturn Virtua Gun. This thing is really cool looking - it looks and feels just like an arcade gun. It's the Japanese version, so it's all black, unlike American lightguns. I was a little worried they might give me shit for taking it on the plane (I put it in my checked bag), but nothing happened. Everything was in really good condition too.

Here's a picture of the gaming items I bought:

I also got an Aphex Twin EP and an Acid Jazz album for my mom, along with various other trinkets.
