    Good laptop for games?

    Hey guys,
I'm looking to get a good laptop to play games (the latest games).
    What do you guys recommend?
    And about system specs?
Any specific brand? Alienware seems too overpriced.

Since I'm on Brazil, and a friend will buy it on USA and travel with it, it's better if possible to buy online.

    Go for the Sager 8150.

    http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.p...el_name=NP8150

You can't beat this beast in 15.6" and lower.

    In 17" there's the Sager 9270:

With 2 x 580M GTX in SLI. This is by far the best notebook I know. Besides, you can get a 1920x1080 full hd screen with 3D.

2x 580M Sli is a bit extreme as the value for money really isn't there.

A friend of mine picked up a decent laptop before he flew back out to work, about spent about £1500 on it. He ended up getting a single 6990M and I have to tell you the performance is comparable to my desktop's GTX 560 Ti. On FlatOut Ultimate Carnage, with the screens in view for comparison, both were playing @ 1080p, maxed settings, no problems and no distinction between the two.

Granted there will be games where my desktop GPU will be better than his laptop, but it did get the job done and probably will do quite well for most DirectX 9 / 10 games. I don't know how well it will fare for DX11 but as you are in Brazil and the exchange rate sucks, no harm in gettinf a decent bang for your bucks.

USD $1500 would be the limit.
15" would be perfect. 17" is too big.

I still use my ASUS G73.... love the damn thing ( and the 5870m kicks some serious ass )... only thing I don't like is the high maintenance aspect to it which wouldn't be a problem except to do something as simple as cleaning it out would require pretty much a full tear down ( you can leave the motherboard in but everything else including the top half has to be taken apart )... same thing for ram upgrades ( damn you 4th slot behind the heat shield! )

I'd say wait for the ASUS G75 if you go for one.... it took 4 revisions before they finally realized that the customers want to do some DIY themselves....

I personally stay away from dells/alienwares, hps/compaqs, lenovos ideapad/essential line, and anything that's gateway/emachine/bullcrap... I've seen far to many of these cross my workbench especially the dells and hps

    Go for the Sager 8150.

I've heard of SAGERs and that they are nice but I agree with LeGIt on this one... there's a point where price for the laptop doesn't justify the purchase.

    Bought me some weeks ago the Acer Aspire 7750g, 17" , i5240, 8GB DDR3 Ram, HD6850M 1GB Vram for low 700€.
Anything runs great on high res, skyrim, SWTOR ....

Here a good site, where you can check the different kinds of laptop GPUs..

Hmm id recommend any that can run dolphin, you get an amazing range of fun distracting games.

I have an i7 740qm, looking to upgrade to a 920xm so I can play it better tho. Check out benchmarks for the 920xm and compare them

    check out xoticpc.com

the 15in sagers with 560m's and 580m's are amazing. Pretty cheap for the punch they give. Specially next to an alienware

veggav, you know how much battery life the Sager have?
A quick google search says it will last 2 or 3 hours with screen brightness at minimum.

Someone said 2x580mSLI was overkill. It's not if you want to this gaming laptop to have longevity and extra processing power/VRAM for better image quality with the likes of OGSSAA, SGSSAA TrSSAA and etc.
2X580m's in SLI are barely as powerful as a desktop 580.

However Dual 580m's are stupid expensive and not worth the performance for the price.
