It's either repainted or a 3rd party controller. Cause from what I remember the connectors that plug into the console were the same colour.

However don't quote me on that 100% cause I might be wrong... but that's my only 2c on this.

I was thinking the same thing.

No, the cable was still dark grey, and the ferrite bead and the console connector were still light grey on all the official SCPH-1080 controllers regardless of colour. So it does look like an official blue SCPH-1080 controller.

That's a debug PS1 controller, they have connectors with different colors.

And it does not have a ferrite bead or the patent sticker like the retail SCPH-1080 does. That one seems to be based on the earlier SCPH-1010 controller instead, which lacked the ferrite bead, had a shorter cord and did not have the patent sticker on the console connector.

The Net Yaroze controllers, DTL-H3010, also do not have the label on the connector, and their connectors also match the color (and texture) of the controller and console. DTL-h3010 came bundled with DTL-H300X consoles, which is same generation of SCPH-3000, SCPH-1001, and SCPH-1002, these consoles came with the newer SCPH-1080.

I say the one in the first pic is painted or 3rd party, though not 100% sure. the one in the 2nd pic, nice

A company called Innovation made different coloured PS1 controllers that look pretty identical (at least in low quality eBay photos) to official controllers, except that they say Innovation on them.
