    PS Vita Demo Mode

    Hi guys!

I just got a dev PSVita from Sony for a review and after a power off its only working on DEMO MODE, meaning you can only access the game demos on the vita's memory. Does Sony have a particular button combination to get out of this mode? I remember reading that the PS3 had a similar one...

Is this like a Kiosk Ps3? Usally you get a text with the update which contains the pin. Mind if I ask what model number this device is?

PDEL-1001 i.e. is the EU Devkit, woudl be interesting to know about this one.

It's a Kiosk PS Vita: Shuts off after 5 minutes of gameplay, resets to main screen with demos. Seems to be a stock LatAM release (PCH-1010) with another firmware. Didn't get any codes with it, just a box.

Have you got a link or something to login and download firmware updates, if so check there. If not, did you try the keys like PS3 has (L+R+Select+Square) to get to the unlock screen?

If you can get to the unlock screen:
    - try the latest PS3 (4.00) code 0219
    - try bruteforce seems to be the last resort :(

    Other things to try:

    1. Go to Settings > System > System Information
    2. Press simultaneously R + L + DPad Left + Square for a few seconds
    3. Release those buttons then immediately press the start button

    What does it say there?

You may want to try to go to recovery and check the options there:

This is for 1.5.1, 1.5.0 is a bit harder to enter!

If I read what he posted, he got into the recovery menu then selected the option to install a fw and gave it a normal retail firmware.

Seems like a loss to do that if you ask me. =(

he sure did, what where the other options in that menu?

This is why people who do not know what they are doing should not use this equipment. Now you have lost the firmware and it is un-dumpable.

I agree that is a waste. But i suppose if it belongs to them, they can do whatever they want with it, even degrading the thing's original meaning.

Jealous of a non-retail Vita. But I can't believe the FW restore.

    *sigh

There is nothing lost there, its a PCH-1010, a common stock model with Kiosk firmware (just like PS3). The links to the updates for Demokits are know and everyone can grab the pup of there if he/she wants. You can't dump of the fw at the moment anyways and having a common vita stuck in a useless Demo mode looks more like a waste to me. This is not a PDEL or something special at all.
