So if I get it right, this version finally made the SD card adapter worth buying?
It can play direct iso from SD? Most of the games works? Something like an Everdrive for the Dreamcast?
Sorry if I got it wrong but my russian is a light rusty LOL

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.
This is excellent.
I am so happy that the Dreamcast still gets so much homebrew support!

When the doctor asked me, if I heard voices in my head, the voices said "tell him no!"
Nice, somebody needs to make a video explaining and showing the new features :)
SWAT make some videos

Looks very promising, the golden question now is can you play plain old iso images on there without having to SDISO them now?
That would be enough for me, though I'm updating now as we speak anyway...
Xeauron, if you can post your impressions about this new version.
Damn it, havent got time to test it at the mo veggav mate, I'm sure someone else will post a brief run down soon, well before I get chance to...
From the looks of the vids I saw earlie it runs smoother and supports more games/image types and can run them from multiple sources including a HDD and from over a network. I only had a brief look at the vids though so I could be completely off the mark with those last 2 features I mentioned!

Has anyone noticed the support for the DC "Navi" design IDE to G2 Bus adaptor?
A.K.A the Bitmaster IDE prototype circuit?
Even with the slow PIO mode, a 16-bit interface beats a 1-bit one every day of the week.
I also wondered about those things. The ISO Loader has support for HDD and LAN.
Is the LAN Mode over the BBA? Or over the Serial to LAN Board they have on their site?
Would be cool if someone could post some info, I'm pretty lost in the DC world :D
Thanks,
iCEQB
EDIT: How fast is the GD-Rom actually? Ain't that 12x?
iirc that's some between 1.7 and 1.8 MB/s correct?

The bitmaster design is PIO only, as its very unsophisticated (built from simple, common parts), it isn't too fast - but it should move data faster than the SD card reader, but as it has no provision for DMA its 100% CPU driven (really bad for streaming).
If more information about how the Dreamcast's G2 bus worked was available - I'm sure someone could build a faster DMA driven IDE-bridge.
I believe SWAT himself has mentioned BBA/LAN support being buggy and incomplete ~

someone remake g2-ide board, we try to debug it first. Then think about the DMA.
is there any description in english? how to install dreamshell, how to use the sd card adapter etc.? i´m not familiar to this and the dreamshell site in russian doesn´t give me a hint either...

It's kind of plug and play as far as I remember the last time I used.
Download the disc, burn it and it will load in the linux screen.
That has nothing to do with Linux.
Its KallistiOS.
Not tested the network options, send me a BBA/LAN adapter!;-)
-Realtek rtl8193c
-Fujitsu MB86967
(either of the common Sega produced LAN/BBA adapters)
Possibly that SCIF port Homebrew Ethernet dongle...
ah ok, shouldn´t be so difficult then.
by the way what´s the difference between the DreamShell 4.0 RC 1 CDI Image and the
DreamShell 4.0 RC 1 + Boot Loader
??
is it possible to load dreamshell only from the sd card??
