I agree with you on point #1 but it as all moot after that.
Color pallette!?
I don't need to start of my dessert stages at night with pinks & purples.

ALIENS!?
They where there in 2 as well but at least they weren't thrown in your face in stage one at the risk of forcing the story line.

Better overall experience?
I can simply point to the unessecary, freakshow-esque weapons that were introduced in X that pretty much broke the tightness of 2. The drop shot?, the enemy chaser?, they were all convoluted attempts at new weapons that were more comic appeal than usable arsenal.

Off the top of my head, the two things that were truly worth noting as notable additions were the "BIG" versions of the weapons and the "comeback" of the first stage boss in the train stage.

Other than that X tried a bit too hard.
If you really want to remove the slowdown just have the overclock feature added to your MVS board.

I liked Metal Slug X, it was the second MVS cartridge I bought. I don't think that Metal Slug 2 is bad but I do feel in general that X is an improved version for sure. But it isn't as though I wouldn't want to play Metal Slug 2 again from time to time.

Is there any youtube videos showing Metal Slug 2 lagging under 2 players? I'm really interested in seeing how bad it gets. I've seen 1 player, and I can't really say it's too terrible for me.
