The prices at Amazon merchants are usually ridiculous anyway, so they're not exactly a good price guide.

Mega Man 8 isn't the easiest game to find elsewhere either

Heck ignoring the highly craved US Sat, even JP for either system costs 2-4 times than US PSX.

    Respectfully, I disagree.

I think the truth is the market for development hardware is pretty small for the most part, the value of such hardware is determind mostly by its availability. There has been abit more wii stuff available just recently, declining its value abit.

The fact the unit on eBay went for silly cheap, is just one of those things. I remember years ago when a 360 kit with sidecar would sell every day for 1000 GBP then I remember someone pointed out two had sold on eBay for just over 100 GBP each.

Now this wasn't all they were worth over night, they still sold every day for good money, the truth is someone got a bargain.

Now I think the retail side is possibly more affected by recession and hard times, by how much I don't really know as I don't follow this the same.

With regards to a good NDEV, my thoughts are one is easily worth 500+ GBP and I would consider this a very good price considering what they were fetching, note the thing in my mind that has fetched them down is the fact there is more available at the moment.

Step back, DDH kits, when there were a few for sale over a period, they too fell in price and soon regained their value. ;-)

My thoughts anyway, but I do think the dev market is far different to the retail and even then, we see a repeat of where some items have gone up and others have come down, where do you draw the line?

Isn't part of what keeps value relatively down on NDEV, like Panasonic M2 or others, having so few games worth using it for?

I mean expensive non-proto/dev systems (Panasonic Q, PSX DVR...) can at least normally access their host console's big libraries.

It's the definitive version of Mega Man 8 too Though I prefer Tengu Man's stage theme in Mega Man 8 PSX

X3 and 4 on Saturn aren't too back I'll probably pick those up soon too.

Well, there's always money to be made somehow. What's hurting the collectors market (for Japanese items) is the painfully strong yen. There is simply less business as people don't want to pay premium prices for moderately collectible things. PCBs and whatnot... definitely have "dropped" in price.

The flyer market has definitely simmered down on both sides of the pond. The fact is, despite the strong yen, the Japanese economy sucks big wrinkly balls as well, and paper isn't quite a necessity for gaming, you know.

x3 is a lackluster port. it'd never deserve that range.

x4 great as it is, is just too similar to psx to waste paying more for.

No doubt it's the economy causing collector decline. People are just selling these things cheap to get a bite from buyers. At the same time, no one wants to spend so much money when times are tough. From what I've seen also, most sellers on the site for the dev units are in Europe (at least the stuff I look at). You got that high shipping cost if it's going to the US. I'm hoping for a brighter future since dev kits interest me to end.

It's also the X3 they chose for the X Collection. Horrible music. Still if I can get it I'll get it.

X4 is the same sure it's not any different but there's still a coolness to having a Rockman/Mega Man game on Saturn.

That's what I was mentioning. I mean when you sell something for $8us your probably getting back 616 yen, ie it be like getting $6 dollars from the sale. As the price is higher the exchange makes it worse. And I would imagine that a good amount of sales for Japanese sellers come from the U.S. Surprisingly though I have seen some Japanese sellers offer some pretty cheap shipping compared to 10 years ago.

Yeah, about trying to find systems for $30, I remember when the Playstation 2, XBOX and Gamecube came out Nintendo 64s with 2 controllers were sold at $30, some with boxes.. Now $30 is a controller only.. Forget it.

About 4 years ago I bought Earthbound for 50 dollars and now I see it going for 180 dollars nowadays. Jesus, I don't think it's that rare, I would never spend that much on a game. What is the world coming to?

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.
