Is there a way to get ahold of GT HD now since it's no longer on PSN? I know GT5 is a real, full game compared to it, but I'd like it anyway.

Not unless you're willing to piss Sony off and hack your system

You can try looking on Yahoo Auctions Japan for the blu-ray disc version that was available in Japan (for a short period of time i might say). a.k.a "Gran Turismo HD Install Disc".

Actually I've gotten it for free from my friend account, you can download anything that you have previously bought in the past.
So if a friend who have downloaded it when it was available logs into my PS3, I can download it?
Will it still be available to play off my HDD when I log into my account later?

It wasn't expensive when i got it, 2 or 3 years ago. Have no idea how many are still available these days though.
The only one i could find on Yahoo Auctions Japan: http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u38866605

I've got it on my hacked PS3, could be transferred off my HDD via FTP but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work on other systems without a bit of tinkering. That and the fact I'm sure it would be very illegal.
Well i still got my one on PS3 60GB, I download it way back in 2006. For those who download it which is still acess it anytime they want.
Also this is available online via a PKG to install to a hacked PS3 if you look in the obvious places.
Other than that it isn't available legally at all from the store or polyphony as far as I know since about 2007 and only saw a BD release in Japan I believe.

Did you ever download it previously? I downloaded it a long time ago, if I go into my history it will let me just redownload.
You can still download it from the PSN fileserver, but i have no idea how to install it on the PS3.

It works via "Install Package Files" on a hacked console when downloaded from illegal uploaders, the package won't work on retail firmwares though obviously.
This should also work on a hacked console, not sure it will on Retail since I won't be trying it on that machine as I'm keeping it clean from homebrew and the likes.
I would test it on my hacked console but it may cock up the install I already have from 2006.

A great example of how piracy will preserve our culture.
How many scribes risked death to preserve books?

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.
If the GT HD disc-version doesn't need a server to work (I have no idea about that stuff) then it's fine, isn't it? No piracy needed for preservation.
It's true, however. Stuff will vanish eventually and only be available via filesharing, at least temporarily.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?
Yes, that's the nature of sharing of culture. We wouldn't have the bible if people hadn't copied it over thousands of years millions of time, just as we won't have Super Mario Bros in a thousand years if people stop sharing it with each other and write emulators for it.
But that's another story.
