I just saw alphagamers request http://www.assemblergames.com/forums...ead.php?t=4888

And I certain agree to this one but Is there any chance we can start to come up with a post which contains the recent prices items are selling for in the marketplace?

Not all items, but dev items, certain rare consoles/games etc... It would be good to track the recent prices they have been selling for so we have an idea of value. Also if we kept the list going we could try and understand the peeks and troughs items go through over time.

I don't know if it exists for VBulletin (I use it with phpBB), but there's a mod for MediaWiki which requires having a registered user on the forums in order to be able to add or edit articles to the wiki.

Since most of forums registration forms are way more secure and hard to bypass by a bot than MediaWiki's one, and MediaWiki spambots have ways to register automatically, it works unbelievebly well keeping the wiki clean.

    - An image resizer (LINK) OR huge, external images only affecting a single post, not the whole site of the thread.

    - Underlined/colored links.

Its not a mod, its a part of the software. Its intentional to be able to lock pages or make only registered users able to edit them.

A price check Database? To avoid people constantly asking a price for something that's already valued a database would help this, hell I'd be happy to look after it.

Like I and others have mentioned before Tutorials section would help many users here, and if others like they can create a tutorial they think will be useful and link people to that forum if they're having trouble with what ever it is.

Marketplace changes - Perhaps make it categorised so people don't have to bump as often. Like maybe Development Kits/Test/Debug | Home Consoles | Games etc etc.

I agree on having a sort of IM chat installed that would be pretty useful for users to have light chat without the need for swapping other information.

I also think graciano1337 suggest on more smilies would be pretty sick! How about making the rank system better as well? Currently its a bit outdated.

And how about a general area in the Feedback forum about scammers from other forums/sites? I guess it could just be a sticky thread.

I think what he says is a mod that requires registered members from the forum, and not from the wiki site.

There's one for mediawiki-phpBB integration that requires members from the forum to be assigned to a special group (on the forum) to have the privileges to create/edit articles on the wiki.

    ^ This.

And this TinyPic uploader could come in handy as well:

Enabling spoiler tags would be a nice addition.

    [spoiler]Text up in huuuuurrrrrrrr[/spoiler]

That could either hide it in a box you have to click to view, or as was mentioned, blacked out text that is visible when highlighted

    Interesting!

Would be pretty good if after a buy in the market place they could thumbs up (or down) the seller/buyer for feedback. Recently theres been some doubt from people about actual trusted members on this website just because they haven't done their homework. Might solve this maybe?

Would it be possible to have each members feedback as part of there personal data? Instead of having the feedback section it would be instantly visable at the side of your avatar or something?!

I remember it being mentioned a long time ago but can't find reference to it now, a shop feature in the sales section?

I really like the idea of a tutorial section too, great idea!

I think both should coexist. I think reputation should be more towards the members behavior, participation and so on.

iirc, there's an auction plugin for vBulletin which was pretty solid, dunno it's current state though or if it has been further developed and is stable on vb4.

I'll third a Commodore forum, or at least a classic computing forum wherein such things could be discussed, to include: Commodore, Atari, MSX, X68000, FM Towns, etc.

Commodore stuff is pretty rich in and of itself---lots of interesting hardware, obscure shit, game consoles too (cd32 and C64gs). Add the rest of the stuff and it seems like a good recipe for a forum.

    Some mentioned, some not...

    - Keep classic black/red theme, or as close as possible.
    - Ensure the missing graphics in the black/red theme are restored.
    - Fix smilies that were deleted!
    - Clean up site rules (ALL rules should be in site rules, not just some with others spread around as stickies... plus updating of rules may be in order),
    - Clean up forums in general ("site announcements and user feedback" sounds too similar to "feedback forum" - how about "site announcements and suggestions"? Do we need Twitter archive? If people CBA to follow on Twitter, tough shit!)
    - Repair section is a good idea. Consider grouping with Hacks / Conservation forums, and also Computer support as it's not really used for dev stuff.
    - Don't add too many new forums. As we're primarily console focused, do we need a Commodore section? I mean, we don't have an Atari section, and they made far more consoles! Perhaps a vintage forum to encompass such items.
    - Chat boxes on forums suck. Please - don't!
    - Bring back "badges" for site supporters.
    - A Youtube embedder might be cool. You can use a plugin, or a BBcode.

    Hmm, mind's gone blank ;-)

Not sure if its been mentioned, but an auto-image resizer would be WONDERFUL!!!!

That was HQ images could be shared, but not stretch the page unless they are clicked, otherwise they fit the forum

I would like to see which other members are currently viewing the same thread as I do. Many other forums show this information. This can save time if you're waiting for a reply and having to decide if you wait a few more minutes or leave now for dinner.
Of course this should only be visible to members, not guests.
