See what I did there? That's NGF all over.

Chrisr finally took a chance at the offer:
He got 3 questions right from the multiple choices tonk gave him, too bad they where all made up questions, and since chrisr was unable to call it. It just proved he never played Last Odyssey.
Nice try, VHS Jockey.
Okay, now who wants to answer some made up questions about a game that doesn´t exist?
First question:
How fake this title screen looks stripped from all it´s photoshop layers?

Wow, after scanning through 20-odd pages on neo-geo.com to actually understand what the hell the last page of posts actually meant, I think I won't be going back there again. It's like being trapped in a room with a bunch of pubescent teenagers. No offence to people who usually frequent those boards, but that thread made many of you sound like a bunch of dicks, with chrisr actually coming off quite well until he got owned.
Just to recap what happened over at neo-geo.com:
* TonK announced he had a copy of Last Odyssey to neo-geo.com, and that he would release it after NGF's chrisr answered a few questions to prove he had it. To sweeten the pig, TonK offered $10k dollars to both Chrisr and Dion (which he showed in cash as an image to the board).
* Chrisr accepted, but avoided answering a single question TonK asked for several days.
* TonK sent Chrisr five questions via PM, of which ChrisR *supposedly* answered 3 out of 5 correct, according to TonK - prompting TonK to claim someone fed ChrisR the ROM or the answers. (questions and answers screencapped above)
* However, a day later TonK announced that it was all lies, he didn't have the ROM and the questions and answers were made-up gibberish. TonK told everyone someone sent chrisr the 'answers' to the questions in order to publicly humiliate Chris and imply NGF never had a copy of the game whilst also adding more fuel to the claims the game exhibited at a 2002 games show was actually just a video and not a real cartridge. (EDIT: Corrected this slightly as it made it sound like more solid facts than one person against another)
I expect Dion to be back, but hopefully a little wiser and probably a bit sheepish.

Impressive. Very nice screen capture from the rom/emulator. Where did you find this?
Let's see when this will finally get dumped.
We have this game already loaded in the emulator.
Big news is coming soon.
.
I've said it for years, ng.com and their members are very childish.
Chris did NOT get owned. I'll elaborate below.
no matter what
Chris understood that no matter what he would have said in regards to answering questions, mike/tonk and ng.com would still doubt we had many unreleased games.
ask away
Chris clearly said he hadn't played the game in a long time nor did he study the game, but he said he was still willing to answer a few questions.
baffled
Chris answers the questions correctly, prompting mike/tonk to start wondering as to how it happened? I think on page 27 till page 31/32, mike/tonk and the others are squirming and trying to figure out how it happened. (if it was a ruse, he would have immediately said chris was busted. But mike/tonk and his toadies were baffled and figured someone was sent chris the rom.
never release the rom / NGF wins
Chris told mike/tonk, that if he answered the questions correctly, he did NOT want mike/tonk to release the roms (a practice we never participate in).
Mike/tonk admits "NGF won" and that "chris played us all." All the while arguing amongst themselves.
mike/tonk had no intentions on releasing anything to the public for free. So to cover his tracks, he now claims it was all a scam.
Truth be told, the game will be released soon, and it will have ZERO to do with mike or anyone from ng.com
NGF release of Last Odyssey
At this point, we are now considering making a full release of Last Odyssey on AES.
www.NeoGeoFreak.com is being updated and will have the big reveal soon.
CGE2012 in Las Vegas this year. Come to the NGF booth and see that we have nothing to hide.
If it was a scam, mike/tonk wouldn't have been pissed and trying to hunt down who shared the roms or answers to the questions to chris for 4 or more pages. But as Chris said, he told mike/tonk to never release the rom. (something mike/tonk and the ng.com members never planned on doing for free anyway). Mike is just back peddling. And no one gave chris the rom or fed him the answers. Chris was making his answers based on memory of briefly playing the game a long time ago, never claiming to be an expert on the game anyway.
I still have doubts that mike/tonk has ever touched an unreleased game.
Neo Developers manual release = Nightmare Tony
The neogeo developers manual was shared by a guy named Nightmare Tony, not mike/tonk. All mike did was give a link to the uploaded manual that NightmareTony provided.

Yes, this will be another release in the NGF series.
The last full official and licensed NGF releases were Bang Bead, Bust-a-Move, Diggerman, Irritating Maze, ZedBlade, and the ever popular Zupapa.
We are working out the details on production numbers. (possibly 200 units)
We are considering the insert and if we will do a manual like our other releases or possibly a new type of instruction book.
As I said, NGF came back for a reason. We did transactions with many new neo collectors, sold out most our stock, sold off our flash cart protos, various sketches and other original arts, and many other various collectibles to the next generation to enjoy.
This will not be the only release. There is still more to come.
Details are forthcoming.

But, Chris answered made up questions. How do you explain that? The questions were completely made up - they have nothing to do with the game. Nobody is backpedaling - the fallout after Chris answered the questions was intentional. You'll never release any version of Last Odyssey because you don't own it. That would be like me asking you why the Super Game Gear Mega Color was an awesome system, and you answered it. The system does nor exist.
You probably should have read the entire thread instead of making a response based on skimming.
No one was able to answer my question about Blue's Journey from earlier in the week. Chris didn't care what questions would have been asked or what answers he would have given. He clearly stated he hadn't played or studied the game in detail, but was willing to play along and answer a few questions.
Even if he got every answer wrong, that wouldn't establish if he owned the game or not. It would just prove that he didn't study the game and take notes on it. Who cares?
I wouldn't be able to answer questions about KoF2000, backgrounds, music, or anything else. That doesn't mean that I don't own the game.
Anyway, people didn't think we would release Zupapa, Bang Bead, or that we were licensed and authorized from snk, but the truth came out years later.
Our court docs prove we had all the rights to redo the inserts with the NGF brand with permission from snk. The papers also say NGF had the licensed rights to all games, including Bang Busters, Crossed Swords 2, Warlocks of the Fates, etc.... but some people don't want to take SNK-Japan or Playmore's word. Those people live in denial.
I said 8 months ago that Last Odyssey will be released soon. Way before that nonsense at ng.com was started.
www.NeoGeoFreak.com unveiling soon.
.
Everything we do is all by design.

You don't make sense, dude. Nobody believes a word you say. I honestly can't understand how you are even trying to make sense of what Chris did. The ROM is just a joke, nobody has it or has played it, including you. But keep on doing what you do. It's sad that you base your life on shady tactics from a decade ago and live a lie. But, whatever works for you bro. Inkjet inserts are not official. Your Zupapa AES release was a conversion, dunno how that was official.
Dion,if you guy are planning a release of Last Odyssey, why didn't you call anyone out on those questions being fake? I mean, you have the game and could have played it to confirm yourselves? I'm confused. Kinda caught yourself in another lie. Chris, having the game in his possession as you claim, could have simply stated that none of the questions had anything to do with the game. Instead, he tried to answer them, looking like a fool in the process.
Care to explain this one?

Hi Dion,
I registered here to ask a few questions and get some information for the collection I've started, and while I'm not an AES collector (while I wait in the hopes other questions I've posed will be answered), I've been curious about an aspect of all this proto talk: as a licensed re-seller and with the authority to produce official packaging, was there a particular reason behind selling any protos you had privately as opposed to making official releases of these titles and turning a higher profit on multiple units (say, a production run of 200) vs. a single proto cart?
I'm curious if there was a plan for timed releases or is/are the unveiling(s) slated for this year by NGF a byproduct of chance and opportunity based on changes with the original buyers you had for these protos?
Earthbound was the only reproduction I ever read up on and bought a copy of, so I find all of this, especially as a newer Neo collector, to be rather interesting.
Thanks!
I don't play the games anymore and I wouldn't know if those questions were from Last Odyssey or some other games.
Ask me 5
Why do you think chris all of a sudden asked for 5 questions from mike?? He wanted to give all wrong answers. To us, it was a joke.
Shocked!!
I was at my girlfriends house waiting for her to getting ready for us to go out and chris called me and told me he answered the questions correctly!! We were shocked and laughing when mike/tonk said he answered 3 correctly and missed the two easy ones on purpose cause he didn't want to make it seem like someone gave him the rom. The conspiracy that chris missed two on purpose and that someone shared the rom or answers with him is hilarious and shows desperation.
ng.com still NGF obsessed
I normally don't bother with ng.com, but this past week I've lurked and read that thread with amazement at the amount of obsession that the same 5-6 people STILL have with NGF. That stuff is pure gold.
.
Hello Shayne,
Nice to hear from someone with a true neogeo question.
As I don't want to brush off your question, but it has been answered in the ngf history thread.
We did sell unreleased games to certain people many, many years ago.
We sold games such as Ironclad, Ghostlop, Crossed Swords 2, Bang Busters, etc....
Back 10-12 years ago, we sold these unreleased/proto games for a low $1000-$2000 (which was high back then).
Some games we did make into full productions of 200, 300, and 500 cartridge runs. We've always pondered the idea of some future projects and lately we've been working together with other resellers when it comes to making a release and pushing it to market.
Thanks for the questions Feel free to post specific NGF questions in the NGF History thread.

Dion, since you now claim to have had Last Odyssey in your possession the entire time, why not make a gameplay video, proving that the questions were in fact wrong? You can also really showcase an important piece of Neo Geo history at the same time. I don't see this as an unreasonable request.
Just pop the game in and record the footage on your phone. It's pretty simple.
Also, sorry to hear of your divorce.
I don't get how what TonK did proves anything?
Like Dion said, even if he got every answer wrong, that wouldn't establish if he owned the game or not.
so you're saying Tonk still has the Proto/Rom of the game?Chris told mike/tonk, that if he answered the questions correctly, he did NOT want mike/tonk to release the roms (a practice we never participate in).
Mike/tonk admits "NGF won" and that "chris played us all." All the while arguing amongst themselves.
mike/tonk had no intentions on releasing anything to the public for free. So to cover his tracks, he now claims it was all a scam.

Locked due to Neo Crazies.
Take your shit to unmoderated, keep the shitposting and personal politics where it belongs - http://www.assemblergames.com/forums...ad.php?t=31913
The thread is being cleaned of off topic posts and will be unlocked in due course - posts are not being deleted however, merely all the stupid repeated, double and triple posts merged and moved to the unmoderated thread where you can continue with the futility of endlessly going around in circles there.
Also if a question goes unanswered please don't spam until you get a response - I'm sure it will be dealt with as and when there is the time or ability to do so. If it is not answered any time soon, at least have the good grace to give Dion a chance to deal with the backlog before asking him again.
Now that I've separated the wheat from the chaff the thread is actually readable and I can tell what is going on. I'm not going to take sides one way or the other but I will make some of my observations known.
1. Neo Geo fans are crazy
2. Neo Geo fans are CRAZY
3. Dion seems histrionic and people should bear that in mind when dealing with him, but someone has to be and we love or loathe him regardless.
4. Dion attracts equally histrionic people like moths to a flame or flies to shit (I'm not stating, implying or inferring anyone is a fly or like shit)
5. Dion may have done some bad shit and probably some good things too, but to be fair who hasn't? (rhetorical question)
6. This stupid false question quiz trap crap just sounds to me like someone got butthurt and they still haven't learned to grow up, drop it and move on.
More specific to this thread
a) I've bought, owned and resold unreleased and prototype stuff. This probably isn't in dispute but I sure as shit couldn't answer 5 specific questions on them and if I did get them wrong, given as no one else had them at the time, how would anyone have known if I was right? (rhetorical question)
b) If I did show any material of any kind including screencaps, photos or bank statements etc it wouldn't conclusively prove I owned unreleased or prototype items. In fact even with the evidence of stuff I have personally owned I don't think there is anything that would prove beyond a reasonable doubt that I have ever even owned them... yet I did! If I could prove something, there will always be someing calling BS on it or disbelieving anyway, so what can you do? (rhetorical question)
c) I'm the kind of person where the more you push me for something, the more you just push me away and I'm sure others are the same too. Harassing Dion for proof of something which may not even prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he ever owned them helps no one. If he had things to share I'd be grateful if he did, but it seems to me some Neo crazies will certainly be ungrateful even if he did throw you a bone, but at the end of the day if Dion was a content owner it is perogative what he does or does not do with it and if he is not, given as you do not believe him anyway what difference does it make what he says to you? (rhetorical question)
d) With the above in mind I'm a +1 for Juste's reasons for wanting NGH numbers too but I accept that neither I or the community may know them
I'll unlock the thread sometime tomorrow for prototype discussions to recommence. In the meantime play nice, have fun and remember - don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive!
EDIT: Reopened. Now cut the crap and stop going around in circles! There really is no need to turn every thread into a bash Dion thread.

The point is moot because we recently sold our only copy (flash memory) of Last Odyssey.

FYI, and for the people you're speaking for who may have an interest in procuring and preserving unreleased titles, Last Odyssey has been sold to someone planning on making a release.
How are you planning a release of the game (by yourself/NGF) if you have sold it (your only copy)?
