I've never heard of anyone trying to somehow tap into it, I'm pretty doubtful
Highly doubt it'd word. If even just the clock speed has changed, it wouldn't work.
Doesn't the clock run at gc speeds in gc mode?:shrug:

The main clock would have to unless they want to potentially break compatibility with an unknown quantity of games. The clock on the high speed port OTOH...
I was unaware there was a high speed port on the Wii at all, let alone one that was designed for GameCube hardware usage. If it is wired up the same way I don't see why it couldn't be made to work. The GameBoy player is essentially an entire GBA sans screen inside a convenient case.
Might even be able to modify it to work stand alone if you wanted but it'd require quite a bit of work to do so.

Yea but I see the motherboard cuters do some pretty amazing stuff. It seems as if the hardware is all there, and you could solder directly from pins, but there is no populated spot for it. Just an idea now that wii/GC prices are way low (50$ avg for a broken dvd wii, and 20$ for a GC), and now is the time to tinker:nod:. It would make a Wii that could play Wii/GC/GB/GBC/GBA games. Talk about an ultimate console!:dance:

I wouldn't really bother cutting up hardware to use the Gameboy player on the Wii. It's easily done with a Softmod. If you really want a real deal player get a $20 gamecube. Of course it would be interesting to see it work, but I can't say it's going to look great.
My wii is a work in progress, right now. but I'm looking to make the ultimate wii...I have wode, pelican horizontal case, going to do the sd card mod for the gc memory cards(internally for side a), single power supply, 3tb hdd, gc ports on the front of the case, retractable sensor bar....etc. all looking stock(not cheezy like some mods on the Internets). Having a GBA port on it too would be the bees knees.:rolleyes: oh well.:crying:

I remember the Datel version of the Gameboy Player that plugged into the Gamecube's Memory Card Slot ('Datel Advance Game Port'). Probably won't work on anything less than a modded Wii though.
Datel used software emulation, the gameboy player is actual gba hardware...probably the Datel version would work on wii.
But then that would be the same as just using an emulator. I would love to see this done, even if it is a bit redundant.

datel "advance game port" was blocked with wii 3.2 update if I remember well.
Should still work with a softmodded wii but it's not that useful since new homebrew emulators are better and faster than what datel included on their disc.
The only point was to be able to play retail cartridge games directly (via their GBA Slot to GC memory card adapter).

I tried the Datel "Advance Game Port" on my Wii....wasn't worth the time it took to boot it up. It would be nice to use a GBA Player on Wii since I don't own component cables for my GC but I don't think it would be worth the trouble unless your making an ultimate Wii like OP.
It might be possible to play original GBA carts on a Wii with the Retrode and the GBx plugin adapter:

If an emulator supports loading roms from a usb storage device it should work.
I have a gameboy player and looked inside, very much the same as a gameboy advance.. only 1 extra chip I believe and all to the connector... you realy only need to route the video and I/O to the wii by, maybe USB? and route the video data to a chip that make's it run on a TV. Like al those tv out mods for the gba.
