    Neo geo AES - AEC?

    Hello
I need help identify a Neo geo AES system. The bottom of the console says:

    Neo-AEC
    8W
    Pro POW
    90A 22,507

Manual is black and white. And the box says NEO-AEC.

Is it a PAL, NTSC or JAP?

    Thank you

You can't tell from the outside of the console, a sure-fire way to tell is to boot a game and see if it boots in Japanese or English (the Bios determines which version will boot, the rom data is the same throughout all regions). If the console has a Unibios it is REALLY hard to tell which region it originally was from.

Brand new you say? Sell it to me then... ^^ It is worth... not so much, trust me :-P
    Kidding!
Congratulations, it is hard to find new Neo Geo systems.

Please post a picture of the box, sounds like a rental system. Green stripe on the box should be japanese rental system and red stripe should be US system if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, looks like a US rental system, if it is 60hz it is US, if it is 50hz it is EURO.

There aren't any first gen PAL consoles so it's not that. The included Euro? plug is suspicious, perhaps it isn't "never-touched" new.

    Right.
Perhaps the console in the box isn't even the one that was originally in there, if what you said is true about there being no EURO rental systems, if there would be a EURO system in the box there would be something funny going on. Although the EURO plug is an adapter, so the console seems to have an american/japanese PSU.

Looks like one of the 'new' systems that iirc Telegames people unearthed / NeoAyato bulk buy. About as new as I am. (I'm 34 )
    Fab looking condition, not new.

(And yes, green stripe is JP rental)

Matches the leaked SNK document that states the first version of the Line SPrite Controller chip (LSPC) is not capable of displaying PAL video.

    LSPC2 does PAL video.

There's two types of power supplies, 5V and 9v.

There's 9V and 5V NTSC systems. I don't know PAL systems so I can't vouch for the "Will not work for PAL Consoles" text.

The video system has nothing to do with the power supply, but that phrase carries the implicit meaning that there's no PAL systems using 5V PSU.

    Can anyone confirm that ?

I don't think there are any 5V second gen consoles, but there are some (later) first gen modified by SNK for 9V use which contain a switching regulator. Perhaps if 5V isn't right for this console it's one of those since the bottom sticker specifies PRO-POW (5V) use.

It's hard to find a truly new home system, and those that you do find will be late builds. It's also hard/maybe impossible at times to determine whether a SNK product is new since not everything is sealed (nor documented) and may have minor factory wear :/

if what you said is true about there being no EURO rental systems, if there would be a EURO system in the box there would be something funny going on. Although the EURO plug is an adapter, so the console seems to have an american/japanese PSU.
I don't know if there are Euro rental systems, I just know like l_oliveira said that the early "chipset" does not support PAL.

If the plug is simply an add-on adapter, then an official (non SMPS) NTSC AC adapter won't like 220V @ 50 Hz. It would make more sense to me to provide a 220V AC adapter than require people have a 220V Euro to "110V Euro" step-down transformer.
