Been waiting for this to happen! Donated. =)
Just release it jack ass

Haha, what a bunch of wankers. Pure profit? Surely the price one could get would plummet once it's freely available on the internet.Unless this collector destroys these cartridges after the ROMs are posted, the $2,000 entry fee is nothing but pure profit, since the cartridges can still be sold afterwards.
Someone at Joystiq clearly has no idea how market value works.
People are willing to pay loads for the cart because its not available. Once available, cart is worth much less - therefore its hardly "pure profit".
Also with a sensationalist title like that, he should be sacked.
NOT ONLY THAT, he tries to claim this news is "serendipitous" because Joystiq were talking about this gameboy colour version a week ago and now this rom has appeared.... THIS FUCKING THREAD WAS STARTED IN NOVEMBER.
Idiots.
Screw Joystiq, These roms are getting released! :-P
I couldn't agree more... who the fuck does this guy think he is!
He has bent the truth in order for his article to be controversial! And to then claim that this has only come about because he was talking about it a week ago is nothing more than ridiculous!
I can guarantee that everything I have said in this thread is FACT and the owner of cart 1 was taking a big hit on the original. Now that a second build has been factored in his costs have increased!
I shall be sending an email to this knob when I finish work to let him know exactly what I think!

Joystiq in 'not actually knowing what they are talking about, having just done the most miniscule amount of research' shocker.
Sent $10. Might send more if I can but just wanted to make sure I donated something.
Hoping this game would turn up for awhile.
Kiff,
You sold a non-proto video game item to me a few months back and I just wanted to log in here to say you are awesome and that Joystiq article can blow it out their asses.
While I'm not into RE myself, I do want others to know Kiff was nothing but helpful, informative and quick to respond when we did our transaction.
I hope you guys reach your goal! Whatever one may think of projects like this and the premise of how they operate, the important thing is other fans are willing to come together and help release/preserve pieces of video game history for each other for time to come. For that alone, it's a wonderful thing.

I just did a refund today and my total balance went down by 20p. You cannot issue a refund after 60 days anyway; you would have to send it as a payment, so of course you would be charged fees on top for that (unless you "gift" it). What that page states was the case before September, so it is out of date.
I only did the refund in order to do my workaround for the retarded 21 day holds that PayPal put on new eBay accounts, but the 20p is worth it to get your money sooner from my point of view. I may even start adding the 20p on to my asking price to take this into account.

Added $15 to the pot, if I have more money before the time ends i'll add some more.
Sent $20.
I didn't see it in the OP but if this fails will we get a refund?
Thanks for all the support guys
Just updated the total again and we have now reached - $1,597.81!
Twinkle - If the total is not raised in time each donator will receive a full refund, although the way it is going I can't see that being necessary ;-)

Could I please ask you two things?
1) Please restore the images. As you might be able to see, they're disabled because of excessive bandwidth. (Maybe you can't see this yourself if you're logged in.) Photobucket sucks in almost every way. Use imgur or maybe imageshack.
2) Could you please show the first 1024 bytes of any of the ROMs, for example as a hex dump? (This is to show the header and some other things.)
