Fundamentally they aren't horrible games. But the fact it's the same shit year and year out and zombies buy these games enmasse. Sickens me.
Call of Duty fans are like Justin Bieber Fans. All Love, no objectivity and they don't realize the thing they love so much is complete pure and utter ass and that something even better and more amazing is out there.
My cousin is about 3 years younger than me we grew up on the old school But any old school style game that comes out now he says sucks.

Multiplayer has been crap since 4. Story mode has always been awesome (MW2 was a lesser though).
Anybody who says 4 was a bad game isn't in there right mind. I agree that it's repetitive post 4 but if you can get it for cheapo(STEAM SALES!) or cheap you should get.

Medal of Honor was also out before CoD - CoD was made by ex-Medal of Honor developers.
I remember playing the original Call of Duty after having it on preorder way back on my P4 3.06GHz machine. The graphics were good for the time but the most amazing element (for me) was the audio and it was an enjoyable game. The multiplayer was just basically World War 2 Quake, which is not a surprise given as it was based on the Quake engine and set in WWII.
The only thing that has changed since then are the rewards and the setting, both of which have simultaneously propelled and ruined the franchise.

I liked MW1 (CoD4) in terms of singleplayer. MW2 pissed me off (the gameplay in general) when I tried it, so I didn't even bother playing it for more than 30 minutes. CoD 1-3 have been amazing FPS though.

Both Battlefield and Medal of Honor have been around for much longer than CoD. It's just that there had not been an outstanding Medal of Honor since Frontline so people forget about it. MoH essentially founded the entire WW2-FPS-subgenre.

I meant the "rebooted" Medal of Honor, which is just essential a Modern Warfare ripoff.
I'll have to disagree, it played a lot like Bad Company 2 to be honest, and BC2 isn't like COD at all. It's not about running into bullets and getting 20 kills in a few minutes.
If you actually play BC2 with a competent squad, you'll realize that if you use strategy and stick together, you'll dominate.
I come off as an arrogant jerk sometimes, feel free to bring me back down to level when that happens; however, it's not intentional most of the time.

Lol, what? 1 and 2 had an excellent story mode and provided an outstanding multiplayer experience. Some of my best LANs were fought on the battlefields of CoD 1 and UO.
1 and 2 are fantastic.
I want a FPS set in NAM with a 60s soundtrack where you are tripping balls the whole game.
THAT would be entertaining.
Black ops should have been that.
I'd buy that. Also, I'd die if someone made a FPS that faithfully followed the first Predator movie. There's so much material that can be touched upon.
Battlefield: Vietnam. 60's/70's soundtrack, and an excellent one at that.
