No, that wasn't the point at all. The point was you will have to pay 28% tax on the ever drive fundraiser due to this new law - which is false.

But back to the new point that has appeared - if you are selling for profit, you should be keeping records anyway. All this law does is stop people who are in business but not paying tax. The 20k allowance (AND 200 separate transactions) will never effect a garage sale/house clear out style sales for people.

Anyway, I have slightly derailed the topic. Will leave it at that.

You wanted to come over here? I think youre better off in Australia. Assembler isnt lying when he says things are getting shitty here. Not that I'm being anti-American but I'm just saying it how it is, and it doesnt seem its gonna get any better. Ive considered starting my life somewhere else, even Australia, but idk, I cant imagine feeling at home anywhere else...

I enforce gaming on my buddies. I need skilled multiplayer entities!
You can ask for any old woman
You can ask for an army of ants
You can ask for a pillar of poison
You can ask for sheep and shavers

    And you can die for

Australia seems awesome. From what Ive read online its easier to immigrate there than a lot of other places too. It's just what Ive read, I could be completely wrong. Also from what I could tell, its very expensive. Unless you wanna live in central Australia (middle of no where), getting a house would be much more expensive than even nice areas here in California.:-0

I think you'd need to be really good at something useful, like medicine or engineering to immigrate to a nice area in Australia... (or anywhere else for that matter)

I think it depends on what kind of occupation you want to have, and coming from a western background, your comfort and familiarity with non-western countries and foreign languages.

New Zealand and Singapore are two more countries that have immigrant friendly legislation. I think you can become a citizen of Singapore with just a few years of residency, so long as you renounce your prior citizenship...

If you're looking for countries not affected by the "western money folly" - I think you're in trouble. I can't think of very many developed countries that aren't severely impacted, or set to be severely impacted, by the western economies' recessions, or mismanaging it's own finances (see the Chinese real estate construction and investment bubble for some sheer ridiculousness).

How about Chile, Argentina, or Brazil?

Taxes are still reasonable, and in most countries you do get a decent level of service. I was in America a while back and was talking to people who worked in the same industry as me and it worked out they were paying more in taxes and insurance then I was...

    avoid China
Of coursre because of the horrible human rights records, but in the right industry you could earn a lot more money then you could in the west.

Avoid japan unless you wanna glow in the dark
What sort of ill informed opinion are you spouting? Unless you are very near (and I do mean very near) then the radiation levels now are basically er background. Even when they where at their highest, even if you lived in fukushima you would got more radiation if you took two flights from europe to Japan (ie a return flight....). I live 150km south of Fukushima, the background radiation level is lower then it is in London...

Avoid Australia they are censoring there Internet.
For 99% of people you are not going to miss anything.

    Indonesia is a friendly country
It still has widespread poverty, womens rights are still poor, protests can be violent closed down and people arrested... http://www.amnesty.org/en/region/indonesia

im intending to move to Indonesia sometime soon myself Jakarta is VERY VERY prosperous
As long as you forget that there are places outside of Jakata, Shanghai in China looks very prosperous, but a short train journey does quickly show you the poverty.

    Back on topic...

30 years? Won't you be near old age pensioner age and drawing a pension before you get a copy of Super Mario out again.

I am planning to sell most of my collection although this is due to that fact that I've rarely played any of my games in the last 8 years and although I have free storage space, it is a pain to leave it. Going to sell what I do not need and keep (or buy again) what I do.

Reading the OP, I'm sure 100% of us here have been through the same and feel your pain. Just playing on the PSX sometimes reminds me too much of far easier times and brings a lump to my throat.

I play emulators of Mega Drive and Amiga shit loads (I have the current complete ROM/ADF collection for both) and can't help but think of amazing times past which can only ever be brought back to life through my memories, and it's one of the loneliest feelings I've ever felt.

Australia is just bad with the way things are, everything is nearly over priced I can't EVER get a job at the most simple places (super markets, home stores, electronic stores you name it), I can't seem to be really happy here, it's very bland.

I'm very thankful that all my friends still play with me on Xbox Live, but they are usually just playing COD, so I just talk in the party chat and play ps1 or currently Earth Bound on the tv right next to my tv for xbox:dance:

Work has killed my gaming spirit. I've been working six days. I don't have much time to play much these days. And when I do have time, I'm usually tired, or I feel like I should be doing something a little more productive.

I feel the same way. I watch videos of games, and wish I had the energy to get up and play them myself. I collect, and I have a fuckload of ways to play games that I love, and most of my friends are avid gamers... but I'm just so fucking tired...

I still make it a point to go out with my friends or host gaming nights at home, and go to comics conventions and whatnot. We've lost many people to normal life, but the geek core lives on.

Now, about your leaving the States... your American money will last longer in Latin America. Argentina is quite nice, but expensive. Mexico is portrayed as very unsafe, and while there is a lot of drug related violence, some cities are quite livable.

Brazil is also growing into a superpower, but it's horrendous for gamers, is it not?

Anywho, I'd brush up on my Spanish.

Your right about our immigration laws, they are very relaxed. A lot of Islanders move here, get citizenship and then fuck off to Australia. I really love our small little country and I definitely don't want to sound like a hater, but there aren't very many choices of gaming consoles here. (Hell I hadn't even heard of or seen a PS2 TOOL or a TEST until about 18 months ago).

It costs a lot to get things sent here and we only have one gaming convention a year in Auckland which is too far for me to go to.

If you want fine wine, great steaks and sexy woman, then I would say by all means move here, I would even welcome you at the airport. But our exchange rate and taxes suck, and so does our government. (Don't want to get all political, that's a whole different topic)
