Game King - remove the crown, already.

The Game King is a very lame handheld game system from Taiwan that takes cartridges similar-looking to original b&w Gameboy game cartridges.

Game King games can't be purchased seperately from the system, as far as I've been led to believe. When you buy a system, it comes with 13 COMPLETELY RANDOM game cartridges. Good luck collecting all 37.

If anyone cruising through these forums actually purchased a Game King system and is enraged over its extremely stupid gameplay and boring games, consider contacting me. I'm looking to be an idiot and own all 37 games for this system, and I'll pay a good spread of ca$h to do it.

Or, you can just be odd and keep your Game King. It may be worth something someday ... well ... if the games weren't all cheap, unlicensed rip-offs of well-known NES games, that is.

There's a few people here who bought one cheap with a bunch of games, from gbax.com. I'm not sure if they ship internationally, they're based in Britain.

Actually, even though I haven't played it, the things I've read about it reminded me very much of a bogged-down version of the games on Ti's 8 bit calculators: rip-offs of known games using low-resolution framebuffer graphics on a green-and-black screen. But the Ti's games are more numerous, the resolution is twice as high (96x64) and they're free :smt043

Does this matter? No it does not. But I felt like posting it anyhow.

When you buy a set from gbax (or whomever else sells the Game King online), you get 13 completely random games w/the system. So, like I said before, you'd have to keep buying system sets over and over and over to try and piece together an entire collection. Usually, when you buy a set, you get only 2-4 games that you didn't have in the first place. That's not so smart for me, money-wise. Of course, it may well be the only option I have.

Certain websites offer a "complete Game King game set", but it isn't complete; it's just the original 13 games that came out when the system first became available. :smt009

The Game King wouldn't be so bad if the sound/music had been programmed to directly access the sound hardware, rather than using large-size samples for music and sound. The result is a very small and short (not very fun) TI-calculator type game that has an Amiga-MOD style soundtrack. Not the most effective way to hock a game system...

Maybe you should contact gbax.com and tell them that these 13 games AREN'T all known games for the system!

Or even better, get them to sell you the games you are missing. Just mail them, send them a list of what games you have, and ask them to flog you any ones they have not on your list. Pay £3 each or something, and everyone wins. In fact, I might do that.

    That isn't a bad idea. :smt023

MOD music can be nice, but if you have to cut the gameplay of EACH game by 95% just to support it, I think you're making a mistake.

I think I'm going to try to get a complete collection.

Does anyone have a list of all 37 Gameking games?

    Are there any peripherals?

I heard that there are actually some original titles.

Same here, if anyone finds a ready access to the games other than GBAX or hkgoldenshop (or whatever it's called) let us know!
