...either after this season or after only one additional season. I say good riddance since the show hasn't been good since season 9 or 10, but how absurd/strangely appropriate is it that it's not being cancelled because it sucks, but because Fox wants to cut the voice actors' salary?
As one who has watched the show since its inception, I can honestly say I won't be broken up about a possible cancellation. To me, the show peeked around season 7 or 8 and hasn't really gotten any better since.
It lost it's edge well over a decade ago, and when it had it's edge it was definitely a lot cheaper to produce and much more profitable for the network.
The show doesn't really do anything outside of advertising, referencing pop culture, and the usual cliches.

The simpsons needs to end it's an embassment to it self.
All the good episodes since season 10 could probably be combined into 1 or 2 seasons.

I just wonder what exactly happened between seasons 10 and 11...I mean, looking at the episode lists on Wikipedia at least half of season 10 is good or at least watchable, but season 11 not only has more bad episodes than good ones, but the bad ones are some of the worst ever.

17 seasons? The current season is number 23, so either you're saying that the show hasn't been good since season 6 (which I just can't agree with) or you just don't know how many seasons there are.
And I read a post on another forum pointing out that they're watching The Simpsons on the airplane in Die Hard 2. Holy crap, this show has really been around for a long time.

It's been of questionable quality from Season 11 on although once you get to around 2005 it's REALLY iffy
I would say the real simpson lasted 11, 12 seasons. From season 13 till today only a handful of episodes can be considered good.
It's a shame it didn't ended decently.

I've just bought Seasons 1-10, and I'm halfway through Season 1.. the difference between then and now is stark. I agree with 7force- between 10 and 11, someone accidentally pressed the bullshit switch.

I think you meant to say "a sad attempt to stay relevant"...almost as bad as the godawful WoW parody episode that proves the writers don't know how video games work or bother to do research (not to mention the shoehorned-in celebrity cameo or that it came out suspiciously soon after the South Park WoW episode).
Previous music references, for the most part, on The Simpsons have at least been artists and bands who'd already been around for a while and popular, not some obnoxious shit song nobody's gonna remember in a year or two. This is the equivalent of them putting Coco Jamboo by Mr. President in the intro in 1995.

The show won't get cancelled and it'll get two additional seasons, but anything past the 25th season is uncertain.
