Really cool stuff you talking about here.
I have been a great Tomb Raider fan for ages.
Sadly I (and of course others) will never get their hands on the interesting stuff.

Hmm, nothing from the email yet. I am guessing i'm being given the ignore treatment. :dammit::dammit::dammit::dammit::dammit::dammit:
I think the bottom disc is Wheela's disc, I always thought it was a 9 not a 7. So it looks like Tomb raider 1 Sega saturn September 1996 was incorrect. Anyway, the picture quality was bad so :-P
Anyhow, the other disc picture is of Tomb raider 2 October 16th.
Would anyone be interested in fundraising for DRX's Tomb raider 3 beta?

Looks like mine indeed! (Even the writing seems to be exactly the same, with the 7/96 straddling the lines.) Where did you get the piccie from? Thanks.
I'm a bit of a snooper for Tomb Raider betas I <3 them.
I did some research and found some guy who sold various Tomb Raider Protos such as on different forums over the years:
Tomb Raider 7/96 Saturn
Tomb Raider 3 Sept 1998
Tomb Raider 3 UNK build
Tomb Raider 2 16/10
Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness Review PS2
I found some old pics with only the TR2/1 discs. It seems you bought the disc from that guy. Would be interested in the AOD review version the guy who was sold to it buy that guy who sold you the discs sold it to someone else and he has no idea who he sold it to since it was a long time ago. Another beta vanished with no trace :'(

"Review" versions are hardly worth it most of the time, they're usually so close to final retail if in fact not just being final retail. Occasionally they have something here and there, but mostly they're just a few little tweaks of being done. You'd know for sure if it had a build date, if you come across one ask questions before plonking down any cash  Just my opinion on that. I do have some images from the design document of AOD though that were shown in an interview before the games release. I might dig out the disc i have the interview on at some point, there was another sketch showing Lara in a minecart but the image has been deleted, and in the interview the guy (Adrian from Core) mentioned the document only represented a quarter of the game.
Have some beta TR2 screens too :-)

Awesome I remember seeing that AOD on someone's blog a few months back. Those TR2 screenshots are interesting, they show TR1 lara :-) probrably way too early for any finished levels to exist ;/
I have a few review codes for TR PSX games, they have small differences like TR3 review code different animations level differences (minor) etc. Best stuff normally comes from 2-3 months prior to final build.
LOADS of stuff were cut from AOD, shame really. I would love to see all of those cut cutscenes etc.

Wonder if these are really images from the Jaguar version.
Probably not.

No fricking way. I don't think much work was ever done on Jaguar or the 32x for that matter(I read somewhere about that too). If any...
I don't know anything about the Jaguar verison. It is rumored to be scrapped what magazine is this from?
The level in the top two may actually be an early version of Tomb of Qualopec which is identical to the one shown in ECTS magazines.
Edit: I can picture an sort of exact time frame of this version.
It is AFTER May 1996
It must be June 1996
It is before July 1996
Reasons:
1. The magnums are different from early July versions.
2. It contains the beta intro which existed then.
3. Anything before may will contain only the Pistols, this version has Magnums so it's after.

^Thanks, I thought i'd seen it before. I also noticed the jaguar was looking abit funny.
It looks like Sega Saturn, but i edited my last post (:

Seen that sketch in a prototype game design book with some others. Screenshots are on the net ;)
Well I managed to get some information on the following betas/alpha builds of Tomb Raider 1:
Tomb Raider 1 May 1996
Tomb Raider 1 July 1996
Tomb Raider 1 August 1996
These three were originally leaked by Mcstyle/Amito lavito/Greatest TR betas around 2008
It seems that those who downloaded them decided to burn copys, and resell them with claims that they're the original. I don't think it's acceptable behaviour to sell something which has already been released to the public. And yes, I have clear evidence that Mcstyle/Amito lavito/Greatest TR betas DID leak those betas to the internet. They originally came from him.
I am actually sure the May beta is nothing but a test demo. I don't believe it's the E3 version at all.
3 Betas are STILL missing.
The 2 PSX betas
And the Sega saturn August 29th beta with 9 levels.
Tomb Raider 1, PC, 1995, Eidos tech demo, pony tail version.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, 1995 Early preview build? Shown in one magazine only. Unknown to exist outside.
Tomb Raider 1, PC, Before May 1996, Planetlara had this, website shut.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, May 1996, E3 Version released to public.
Tomb Raider 1, PC, July 1996, Preview demo, can be found on internet.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, July 1996, on youtube somewhere.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, August 1996, various reburns of the original were made.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, 26 August 1996, already sold.
Tomb Raider 1, PSX, October 1996, I have this, compiled week before final. Identical to final but file size differences. freezes alot.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, UNK, described as short early demo.
Tomb Raider 1, Sega Saturn, UNK, described as being close to final with differences, all levels.
Tomb Raider 2, PSX, 1997, E3 Demo, can be found in rare places.
Tomb Raider 2, PC, 1997, E3 version. Can be found on internet.
Tomb Raider 2, PSX, September 1997, can be found on internet.
Tomb Raider 2 PSX, September 1997, Demo can be found just about everywhere.
Tomb Raider 2, PSX, October 1997, sold on another forum back in 2008. Thread still exists but it's unknown who has it.
Tomb Raider 3, PSX, October 1998, DRX selling for $700
Tomb Raider 3, PSX, October 1998, similar to above (might be same) avalible in private.
Tomb Raider 3, PSX, October 1998, avalible in private.
Tomb Raider 4, none known betas!
Tomb Raider Chronicles, PSX, October 2000, some users have it, not 'fully' leaked apparently.
Tomb Raider Chronicles, PSX, November 2000 beta, Close to final? unknown, sold with TR2 beta.
Red: Unreleased/Sold/Lost
Green: Leaked onto internet

I just couldn't imagine this on Jag or Jag CD. Makes me think they tried to develop it there but canned it due to the system being so underpowered.
But yeah, the logo is definitely 'shopped in, way out of place in all counts. Even I could do a better job making that look legit.

There's always a possibility.
Maybe the Jaguar version is similar to this 1995 "Prototype" version of Tomb Raider:
Video
I don't know much about the Jaguar or it's capabilities. I don't even know how the rumors started, there isn't much evidence, maybe CORE can tell us one day.
well i did know they did developed TR for Jaguar version around 13% but not sure how i heard it from and it goes same for 32x and 3DO too. I dont believe its nothing to do with underpowered of the system though. I dont really know why would someone Photoshopped the magazines.
Also TR2 alpha stage was developed for Sega Saturn too but the floppy disc was decaying (rotting away) some years ago. Floppy drive expansion to sega saturn.
Don't know where any of that came from... I honestly do not believe the game was developed upon the Jaguar, its probably just a rumor. There is no confirmation on this, proof. They stated way back in 1995 that the game would only appear on Sega Saturn, PC, PS1 Jaguar is not listed so it was never ever planned.
I do think that TR2 was developed upon the Sega Saturn and cancelled. It's just i've never seen a working build of it, it must've been really early.
Speaking of TR2 i spoke with an ex-core employee who might have a TR2 beta if he can find it.
