Need advice for a Tablet PC

Hi

Since I have some money laying around from my birthday, I wanted to invest it into a tablet.

I was thinking of a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet (the business version). I like the idea ofthe pen and the attachable keyboard. That could come quit handy at a conference.

Basicly I am looking for something that I can take quick notes with (a digital pen option is a plus) and has a good battery life. It should be capable of WWAN. I need to be able to surf the web and view pdfs. I would like so sort of text editor as well to write some code on the way.

I dont really care about the Operating System that much. I should run smooth.

So, do you think a Lenovo tablet is a good choice or does someone have a better idea?

Get an ipad, lenovo is owned by the chinese governement and who knows what funky backdoors they have in the hardware.

That or get the sony 10 inch android tablet.

A good and cheap alternative would be a WeTab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WeTab).
Don't buy it new (500-600€), but look at eBay for a used one for about 200-300€.

The retail version runs a MeeGoo operating system and also Android and Adobe AIR apps. With a bootable USB stick you can install Windows 7 too.

Until last week I didn't have much use for it and had it locked away.
But then the Windows 8 Developer Preview came, and that makes it amazingly usable.

A WeTab sounds quit good. Will look into that. I'm not sure if the Ipad is the best choice. I will have to test it and see, if it can meet my expectations. Battery life of an Ipad is better than the lenovo tablet.

It has to perform well as a note taking device for the zendcon.

PS: A subnotebook is not an option, I have a x200.

Have a look at the the Andy Pad pro which is around 205 euro and has pretty good specs. It is only 7" and runs the android more suited to phones but still a nice looking tablet for the price.

if you want the good battery life get either iPad or Honeycomb tablets.
Don't get Win tablets as the best you can get out of 'em would be around 3~4+ hours compared to 10+ hours for iPad and 9~10 hours for Honeycomb tablets.

if you have no intention to tinker with your tablet then get the iPad.
IMHO Honeycomb tablet is not ready for mainstream - even Google isn't doing much with Honeycomb - almost like bastard child... ;p

Ordered a Lenovo Tablet and will test is out. Lets see if its better than an Ipad...

I have a Lenovo S10-3t and it's not too bad, although it came with Windows 7 cripple edition so you have to spend money to get a version of windows that can use the tablet feature. It does come with a 7 hour battery (in the UK) and is infinately more useful the an ipad. Although personally I take quick notes on a Palm Zire 71.

Get a Tablet with a built in keyboard and a swivel touchscreen for the "iPad" feel. Any extensive posts or term papers is easier with a keyboard. For keyless pads, you can add a bluetooth keyboard, but it defeats the concept of portability.
