    Been sick for long time

I've been sick with flu and secondary infections for three weeks.

Been very dark thoughts in my mind, I guess how
    a prisoner feels...

Need some ideas on how to break up the monotony of being sick.

    Read a good book man
Scifi novel or something deep/interesting to get your mind off things

Best wishes, hope you recover in no time

Watch a movie or have a friend go pick up something good to eat and bring it back to wherever you live. Those are my suggestions if you're bedridden. Besides that, just remember it won't last forever. Life can seem really harsh and unfair sometimes, but if you're patient and have a positive attitude then things will probably turn out alright. If not, at least you can say you tried. Keep in mind, I have a hard time following this advice myself.

for flu, i would recommend a very hot curry daily, and plenty of Hot Toddies (whiskey, hot water & honey mixed)

you will be up and around in no time, or be so pissed with your arse on fire you will forget how ill you feel

Get a grip man. If it's only the flu that's getting you down, then you're still good to go. I've had a virus in 2010 for amazing 8 weeks (4 times in a row, hit me every two weeks for an entire week) and it was awful. But nothing to get dark thoughts about, it's over after a maximum of 3 months. Though I think this won't make you feel any better :P
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

Every advice from anyone here is interesting :)
Or you can sleep, write something, play a game (sometimes better than watching a movie ;) ) or tide up your stuff.

    Get well soon ASSEMbler! ;)
Currently trying to collect as many HD DVDs as possible.
    That's crazy.

This. Basically do anything and everything you can to take your mind of how your body feels. Trick your brain in to focusing on something so much that you ignore almost all but the worst of your symptoms.

    It's easier than it sounds.

Something that you can really get into, such as a book/Tv series/movie/video game/whatever really helps me when I get sick.

Not sure what to say since I've only really been very sick once with flu in 2008 with a temperature of 39.8 I shit you not. I had no power at all. I couldn't even stand up right. I tried to drive to the clinic down the straight one way road, got there, went in to the doctors room where they quickly put me in a bed and wired up a drip to my arm along with loads of other shit. I wasn't thinking straight then. Thought I must have been dying because they wouldn't tell me shit. In the end my wife came looking for me after 2 hours.

at that time I just felt sleepy for a few days. I just relaxed and watched movies until I recovered. Couldn't play games due to no energy what so ever.

Quite simply, sleep. Advising you to read or watch a movie is a pointless exercise as you've more than likely spent the last two weeks or so trying to do these things. Either go yourself or get someone else to fetch you some over the counter sleeping pills/potions and zone out til you feel like you're on the mend or feel better equipped to deal ith whatever thoughts are troubling you. While you're asleep you're not thinking and while you're not thinking there's no negativity entering your mind.

    Just a suggestion.

Fuck. I just realized how stupid it is to suggest that you ask somebody to bring something home to eat. If you have the flu, you're probably on a pretty lean diet. I didn't think about that before. Sorry.

A friend of mine swears by her boyfriend's method of fighting flu, and he's a soldier (I guess he had no time to be ill in Afghanistan). Sweat it out. Wrap up warm, wear extra layers, extra blankets. Stay in bed and rest. Obviously, plenty of water and stay off anything else... maybe some dry crackers or toast. He insists that has you better in a couple of days.

I like to do some Brain Training or sudoku as much as possible to keep my brain active.

Get well soon man, I've been sick lately too, I know how you feel.

Luckily for me, Deus Ex HR has gotten my mind off being sick partially, I love reading all the little ebooks I find in the game. It also eases my mind to know I have orange and lemon-lime soda :D
I come off as an arrogant jerk sometimes, feel free to bring me back down to level when that happens; however, it's not intentional most of the time.

    Get some A-Z Vitamin pills.
Works great for me sometimes - even if it just is (partial) placebo effect.

Fresh air, sunlight... have someone come over willing to do some laundry,
wash bed-covers (and don't forget the dryer sheets for smell :-)), fulfill the crave for that certain food you would eat - while everything else sounds nasty right now, etc...

    Get well soon mate!

    PS:

Three weeks sick & dark thoughts?! Is it also a little something psychosomatic?!
That stuff made me sick 3x over prolonged periods in the past.

I watched videos of white blood cells kicking ass.

I pretty much lived on beef broth and lost 10lb last week.

I feel better now but the Jetlag effect (flulag?) is terrible.

I have the flu right now.

I can not stand up because I am so weak, and my head is all stuffed up. I cant stop coughing, and when I do, it hurts. My temperature alters, so suddenly I feel cold, then hot.

I have been drinking miso soup (go Japan!) for the past few days, and it is really helpful.

I have been playing Gran Turismo 5 all day (until I feel sleepy) with some friends from Japan, fixed my TV as the PSU capacitors popped and playing my PSone Portable in bed ^_^

Just rest, play some games and watch movies.
A good movie to watch actually on YouTube, is 'Once Upon a Time in Highschool' (http://youtu.be/B-xEpsYl-pg).
