Isn't Storage Wars effectively scripted, just like that Repo show?

Oh man that was brutally funny to watch , i bought 3 NES 001's from my local thrift store they where all in mint condition with the exception of one of them , funny part was every time i tried games in the not so mint one the game would stick out and it would only get red lines, i opened it up and thought i might have struck gold but in stead of being something...anything rare it was just a game genie that someone and took the case off of and shoved it in there for some odd reason. It worked fine after i took it out though.

I got an NES for $5 at a thrift store. It was sitting next to toasters and waffle irons and stuff, so I'm not sure if they even knew what it was. It's an NES-001. Is there even another model other than the top-loader? It's in pretty decent condition, but it had difficulty loading games at first. I bought a new contact thingy for like $3, and now it works perfectly. Outside of Mario however, NES games are not all that playable to me.

My mother says shit like that all the time. I certainly don't want to give him any credit as a professional, but as a human being I think he deserves a bit more slack than some of you guys are giving.

As a human being (probably non gamer) he is fine to make that mistake. To do it on TV and seem so sure so fast was just too great for me, I was actually looking forward to his downfall.

    Boring looking show.

The guy with the black hair looks more like a a pimp than someone who should deal with used items lol, or at least he should start selling used cars.

Sadly some people are like that, someone on the flea market tried to explain my Sonic for Gamecube is ultra rare cause it's from Sega and Gamecube is Nintendo, so it must be a mistake print (???) and asked 1000 Eur for the game...

I mock him more for his greed than for his ignorance.

He knows nothing about something, yet he tries to sell it like a speculator. What an imbecile.

Whats amazing is he was specifically looking for the 001. Did someone tell him there was a 003 or 004?

Storage Wars is one of the new crop of reality shows here in the US about collecting things (for those who don't know in japan etc). Another great one is Hardcore Pawn, about a pawn shop in Detroit. I've given up on Pawn Stars (which started the trend) because no pawn shop owner would consult an expert next to the seller before buying something since the expert will drive up the price usually. The shop owner will come up with the lowest price he could and go from there.

There indeed are only two NES models. All Toaster style are that NES-001. The Top Loader is another number. The NES sold very well in the US and probably Canada as well. They are not terribly expensive.

The guy from the clip was arrogant and exactly the kind of person people hate. When they act as though they are an expert on something they clearly know nothing about. There is no excuse for mistaking one of the most common electronic devices in the US from the late 80s and early 90s for some kind of rare super valuable item. It also shows how much of an idiot he is if he heard about or saw this auction that ended at 13 grand and didn't do a simple 15 second ebay search to determine there was a big difference between the auction that ended at 13 grand and what one particular item was. I mean hell even a search on Wikipedia will tell you have many MILLIONS of NES consoles were sold.

Also, "reality tv" shows are terrible. One of the worst things that airs on TV and a great reason not to watch TV.

Storage wars is a fantastic program.

Arrogance isn't always bad. David on that program is arrogant as fuck but the amount of money he makes is crazy.

I usually hate reality TV, but that Jack Nicholson style guy with the skeleton gloves is hilarious, and I like the dynamic between Evil Dave and the other guys.

    YUUURRRP!

    YERRRRRRRRRRRRP!

I'm on this episode right now. The guy is a complete tool.

Jarrod and a few others who aren't regulers bid a lot upto $500. This tool drops a $500 bid taking it to $1k right off the bat. Even Dave Hester mister big bidder himself (I love him!) Laugh's at him. Barry Weiss (the Jack Nicholson guy) immediately shows a face off ''What the fuck''.

Darrell knocks it up with a $100 bid taking it to $1.1k RICO FUCKING SUAVE TAKES IT TO $2K. The entire crowd is shocked and Dave says thought he had missed something that this other guy had seen. Darrell takes it to $2.1k and Mark immediately throws $400 to $2.5k. Darrell takes it to $2.6k. He finally makes a sensible (but by far more than the dingy locker is worth) in $2.7k.

The entire time the guy is shit talking thinking he got a deal or something.

As a human we shouldn't talk crap about him but as a locker buyer he's a tool and isn't going to last long.

The guy who runs all the auctions simply states ''He's been known for throwing money around''

It seems like he has an ego problem.
He looks like he has a look sealed at $1.8 barry throws in a late bid and this guy turns bright red and looks pissed. he gives a $2k bid Barry gives $2150 and Mark throws $2.5k. In the end up Mark ends up paying $3500 for a locker full of junk purely because he couldn't be seen losing to an old man.

In the lunch room at work. Guy across the table from me is talking about video games to another person next to him. Guy sitting next to me announces that he owns a Nintendo NES-001 and, "It is worth $13,000". I gave a good chuckle. He asked me why I was laughing. I told him I thought he was joking. He proclaimed, "Dude. Its model 001 and sells for $13,000 on ebay". I had a quick knee jerk reaction and told him, "I must be rich because I have 7 NES-001 units in my game room at this very moment". He then begun trying to inform me of my error, that I couldn't possibly own 7 of them. At that point I realized I was beginning to argue with an idiot and excused myself from the conversation. He continued to discuss the complexities and differences between the NES-001 and the much inferior more common models that the majority of us had in our homes in the 90s.

On a similar note. I had another coworker tell me about his $5,000 Atari 5200.
