Cowboy Bebop. What a surprise, huh? *

Actually, it's the only anime series I've watched in full, apart from FLCL, and Ninja Scroll (the movie).

The only Anime I have watched in full is Evangelion. It gets pretty retarded near the end, though.

Hehe I got on the Dragonball bandwagon in 1993 before the story was ended in Jump.

Some popular titles I really like are: Lupin Sansei, Urusei Yatsura, Dragonball, Ranma, Inu-Yasha, Rurouni Kenshin... popular anime is popular for a reason, it's less sucky than most others!

Some years ago I was on a One Piece kick, then I got out of anime completely but I've enjoyed Cartoon Network's airings of the Sunrise animes (Cowboy Bebop and Big O) and Wolf's Rain and Super Milk Chan (Oh! Milk chan)

Of I gotta give props to almost anything Ghibli (especially Totoro which was my favorite movie as a little kid) same with post-Eva Gainax.

Same here! I loved that movie, and it's still awesome today. :-D

I think my super-favorite was Love Hina, just because it's so damn weird and offbeat. Having watched the anime first, I went back and read the manga and found the anime to be much of the suck in comparison, but when is it ever a case where the book is WORSE than the movie?
Also really like Full Metal Panic (both seasons) and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (movie). Both Ghost In The Shell and Akira are excellent as well. Other ones I liked were Azumanga Daio, FLCL, and Eva, and I'm currently watching and loving Mai Hime and School Rumble.

Tenchi, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Full Metal Alchamist, Kenshin (Have bootleg DVDs on all the episodes), and various other series. Personally, I want to hear what Assembler watches...

Hokuto No Ken, the original series and the movie. I've seen a fair amount of anime and am a big fan of big robots if done nicely. Hokuto No Ken/Fist Of The Northstar has this strange addictive quality for me, perhaps it's because the relationships between the characters always seemed really hazy (I've read up on them read the Manga etc) and I had to figure out who was related to who, etc.

The start of the first series is a bit slow and I prefer the later episodes, esp Death Of Rei and the Sauzer death one.

Always dug the art in the manga and Testsuo Hara's designs.

Oh, I completely forgot about Tenchi... that series sorta just disappeared! Last thing I watched was the 2nd movie Daughter of Darkness, brings me back to elementary school ;)

I always liked Hokuto no Ken the movie too because it was gushing with 80's quirkyness and the Mad Max setting never gets old. If movies count, I always liked Vampire Hunter D for some reason. I dig Masamune "Shirow"'s art but I don't like his works. Happy to see no one's mentioned Slayers :P (IMO full metal alchemist is a 75% better slayers haha)

If you gainax fans haven't seen it, I recommend Oruchuban Ebichu :D It's absolutely pointless to watch just as say Milk Chan.

I'm pretty much out of Anime, but some stuff that doesn't get old.

Maison Ikkoku (although it's a bit silly)
The first 18 Ranma's are fantastic... the rest are good, but not near as
    Old school Gundam (Zeta mainly)
The Crusher Joe movie is quality
Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster (new PS2 game coming out!!!)
Most Ghibli stuff. Really pissed I'm missing Haoru no Shiro
Record of Lodoss War (even though I'm not such a D&D fan)
    Yamato
    Gatchaman

Crap I think is shit... then and now
    Sailor Moon
Macross (Shitty Pop music will NEVER save the Earth people!)
Kimagure Orange Road was pretty weak.
... and a lot of other stuff.

It's amazing how accepted it's become though. When I got into Anime (1992 I think it was) the word itself was not yet a part of the English language... nor was the term manga. Now, it's everywhere. There are manga sections in the damn bookstores!

'Cept everyone I know says "Maynga" :angry

    Gunbuster :smt023

If Gatchaman = G-Force = "Eagle Riders" which I think it is, I masochistically watched that in english every sunday morning!

You're right! Kimagure Orange Road is shit, SOOO many people propped it back in the day like Ah Megamisama. I felt almost as if I were stupid for not liking them.

Oh yea, I almost forgot.. Samurai Pizza cats or Kyatto Ninden Teyandee can't think of an anime i'd rather watch.

I thought these movies shared a common director or character designer but I have a sinking feeling I may be wrong. I am sure the Vampire Hunter D film shares one of the head production staff with another big title (I'm thinking Hokuto No Ken or Crying Freeman).

BTW try and watch the 2 eps I mentioned if you ever get the chance, some of the episodes I think match the movie easily.

I always find it interesting that I was watching some form of anime before I even knew what the origin of it was (well not just me :-) ), stuff like Battle Of The Planets (Gatchaman -badly edited I know), Ulysses 31 and Cities Of Gold being French/JP co productions, and others I missed out.

Always liked Ranma, bought the manga when I was at school, loved it but wish I'd collected the Hokuto manga also (the prices were kind of high compared to the usual US imported Marvel and DC comics).

Don't watch much anymore, but always found it slightly irritating that due to Manga video releasing some of the 1st official releases here people still call anime 'mangas.'

PS - Akira doesn't seem close to 20 years old to me. Made some Akira trailers once with some Technosoft game tunes for the audio, the music and images matched pretty well.

Lupin and Harlock, does it get any better?
I really like classics. The new stuff is so formulaic, cookie cutter,
and not even hand done anymore.

I have no idea where to watch Hokuto OVA, a few months ago I had Comcast On Demand, which had the series but I couldn't stand the first 3 eps. Now I have satellite TV and no "Action channel", the channel which was airing it.

I like quite a lot of anime but nothing recently. My No.1 has got to be Masion Ikokku followed by Bubblegum Crisis, Urusei yatsura, Ranma and many others. I also like Gunsmith Cats, Burn Out W, Patlabour, Cyber City (English version is actually better than the Japanese), Dominion (New dominion was a bit shite though) and many others as such classics as The Humaniod, Memories, Kimagura Orange Road and Hokuto No Ken.

    Hmmm.....

Trigun - ISn't Vash jsut the coolest? :smt023 And Wolfwood!

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Awesoem show, though not as great as "everyone" says

    FLCL - Just....Awesome.

Naruto - Fantastic Ninja action! With great characters like Rock Lee and Shikamaru how can you not love it? And the possibilities of LAN parties with the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu! :prayer:

Excel Saga - Interesting and funny....aslong as you dont watch the dub :|

Martian Sucessor Nadesico - Good show...but the best part is the show within the show! Lets go Gekiganger 3! Gekigan-punch! Gekigan-flare! Gai-super-upper!

Love Hina - Romance with action and comedy....its just brilliant :smt023

Cowboy Bebop - Kickass show with great characters. Ed is the best :-D

Chobits - Yet again another love story :) And who wouldn't want their own persocom?

Pokemon - Yeah! I said pokemon! Why, you ask yourself? Because of two characters. Jesse and James. Go Team Rocket!!

DBZ - Only from teh saiyan saga through to the android saga. After that (cell onwards) things got all lame). Saiyan saga was the best :D But Yamcha died :smt022

Tenchi Muyo - Yeah, it kicks ass :)

There are more, but I'm sur eI've bored you all enough already :P
I agree to all auction Guidlines. Still.

What... nobody's mentioned Lain? Probably my favourite anime series.

On the comedy side I'll go for a bit of Azumanga Daioh, the manga's fun too.

Miyazaki/Ghibli are pretty faultless, and some of Oshii's stuff is good as well. The new Ghost in the Shell movie was about as good as its predecessor, and given that the original is probably my favourite anime movie ever that's pretty high praise. Wasn't a huge fan of the first SAC series, the characters felt completely different from the film, in personality as well as drawn style. I haven't read the manga yet, maybe that'll help.

Not really feeling Comboy Bebop, Trigun or any of the "comedy-action" series. Also, death to dubbing!
