Because those with enthusiasm lack skill and those of us with skill either require more skill or are too busy to dive into what doesn't really have a market.

I say give the man time. I am sure he has been toying around with this thing for at least 2 years if he already has games running off of it at all.

Like others have said, this isn't going to come to fruition in the next 6 months to a year, so forget you ever heard about this and go do something productive with life and when we hear something we will update you.

I am VERY deep into the Dreamcast community. I blog, post news, am active on like 6 sites and upload Half-Life mods/ emulators and homebrew games for the DC when I can. I can assure you that I will update this thread when I know something more. :D

next project similar to PSIO (maybe DC-IO ) will have SEGA DC support!

Sega used all IDE signals on G1 bus - why anybody didn't try connec to it.

Nowaday we got a lot of good enough info about DC scheme and protocols G1/G2.

so its only remain to make it in real)))

well the GD drive is more complicated then just a simple IDE interface
its gonna take some work to make a raw GDI image work

but sd card mod works well. in simpliest way we can plug ide device to g1 (g2) and use similar to sd-mod method that replace bios syscalls. so it doesnt need much knowledge about raw-GDi and so.

but if we want to replace original gd-rom - ye its more complicated way. but i think there is no imposible things)))

SD card works through serial which is massively easier to connect to than the G1 bus. You are oversimplifying things by such a huge margin.

It is definitely possible and is being worked on. PSIO won't come to fruition due to the fact that Haunted360 can't cash the checks his mouth writes. Plenty of ideas but lacks 99% of the skill and knowledge to pull the ideas off.

after PSIO with ps1 , a plan make it for DC. i started with ps1 just for beggining. but really iI should like to begin with DC/PS2 cause they have more advantages and more facilities for emulating or conect ext devices.

also DC has g2 bus with unuseless modem, so i plan mod it for ext device too...

i think i have enough skills and info. but need TIME , and maybe money..
(that's why i asked H-360 to ask for donation about PSIO)

I'm not expert but, Isn't there all ready a way to use an SD card in the Dreamcast without the use of that serial adapter you were talking about APE? I've seen a few people with Dreamcast with SD Slots on the case.

Those people that modded their cases with SD slots STILL wire it to the serial port. The serial port is the only thing we have for now.

Only just seen this - impressive!!

If this works out I'll get one.
    Dreamcast, it's still thinking.

Overclocked Dreamcast with switch, SD card reader, built in VGA, activity led, reset button and loads more extra cooling!

I've done internal mods for the SD card, it still gets wired to the serial port you just no longer have an external adapter to plug in. Absolutely no getting around it for now.

i think it changes as sooner as when i'm no busy

i've talk with SWAT (from DC-SWAT) he said support me....

and with Haunted360 maybe it'll called DC-IO (or any)

but the main aim is to connect it with many devices (hdd/sd/dvd-rom/eth/../../..)

I've been looking for something along this line for 2 years now. If this is successful, I will be getting at least 2. Put one in my console on my TV and use the other for a portable Dreamcast. Having support for multiple devices like DVD, HDD, SD, and more is a big bonus for me. One question I have on this: Will the connection to the device be PATA or SATA? If it is PATA, I have a lot of stuff with that type of plug. SATA would be easier because of the small plug it uses compared to the massive one on PATA devices. Now if the BIOS could be modded to support DVD playback when a DVD drive is connected or a DVD movie is in a storage drive it would be perfect. All hail the mighty Dreamcast!
Classic hardware collector and modifier. Currently focused on Sega, Xbox, and Nintendo stuff. New Xbox project:

the dreamcast is NOT capable of playing DVD media even if the bios was modified

you would need an external device to plug into the expansion bus
in order to not only read DVD media but to also have a hardware decoder for DVD video

otherwise known as a generic DVD player
witch you can get for less then 40 bucks

IDE to SATA is possible with dedicated ASIC parrallel ATA to Serial ATA chips.

If you've got a pio style IDE type bus available; then you can pretty much add all kinds of crazy stuff to the bus.

ISA style peripherals, solid state card readers (via ISA chips), ISA Network cards, ect...

Mind you, VERY VERY customized drivers for the above stuff...

(e.g. nothing would be plug-n-play compatible, extensive patches for network games)

basicaly it will have PATA (IDE) cause i didnt work directly with sata chips. but maybe in future or after good donation.... theoreticaly in FPGA we can make sata stuff and have SATA IO from chip. but now for make proj cheaper and fasterin development we can use adaptors ide->sata itsn't expencive.

yep, IDE gives us DVD media support. but i dont know how watch DVD-VIDEO. i plan that all soft will supported by DREAM SHELL (by SWAT) . my purpose make HW conection and write all drivers. so other cute guy can make all we need soft. cause it can solved as by soft as by HW way..

also, i got interstin idea. all we need HW is in the PS2. A got a lot of dead ps2 slim and i dont want fix, causr dont know what happen with this.... but, its possible to connect ps2 to DC (or otherwise:) ) and ps2 give us 2 usb hosts! , EHTERNET con. and many IRXes. also maybe it can help with dvd-video. maybe its not pretty looking good, but for crazy modder it wiill be COOL)) like console - FRANKENSTEIN... even we can use ps2 joy for dc , and other stuff.

Interesting to see you're dabbling in DC as well cyb. If Psio is a success I will most definately buy products for other systems as well.

I'm unsure of what PSIO is - assuming it's PS Input Output?
I knew a guy years ago that loved coding in assembly and whatnot, and he was trying to make a network port for the PS1 and code stuff for it, no idea if he was ever successful or not.
