Sony PS1 Terms and Conditions?

Does anyone have the PS1 Terms and Conditions?

I mean, something like a EULA or legal document that tells you what you can and can not do to the console.

Interested, because Sony did not do much towards the PS1 / PS2, but the PS3 is another story...

I have never seen a EULA or legal document unlike the new consoles (xbox360 etc)...

Well, I don't think there was one... unless the terms were part of the warranty (ie. you shall not open the hardware, or you'll void the warranty). Considering what's needed to mofify the BIOS in the PS1 and PS2, I guess that could be a reason they didn't include said EULA/Terms of use.

There is an EULA for the PS2 Network Adapter Online Startup Disc as well as for the Public Beta Test Program... but that's about it for the PS2... at least on Sony's website.

Wow. This is an old topic. Uh, I believe I was after the hardware information to see if it states anything about reverse engineering or modifying the circuitry/chips.

I'd be surprised if you could find much info on this, it wasn't such a big deal for sony at the time I guess. Although modding etc has been a hobby of people for a long time, it seems to be something that has grown more in recent years, particually with consoles ( The PC guys though, thats a different story! ) Interesting of you to bring it up though, strange how times change! I still cant fully understand how sony legally somehow owns the property that you paid for!

Actually, I think the EULA for PS3 and 360 is only for PSN/Live. You don't have to agree on anything to just use the PS3 offline. All they can do if you break the EULA is to ban you from PSN, and all they can do if you pull of the "warranty void" sticker is to void the warranty - i.e., they can deny you from future services THEY provide, but they can't exactly make it illegal of you to own your hardware because you violated some arbitrary conditions. (Although they would probably very much like it so!) :)

Of course, nowadays it's in many countries there are anti-piracy laws that makes it illegal to modify a machine to enable it to run copy-protected software but that applies to all hardware regardless if anyone accepts or violates some EULA or not.
