The King of PS2 Collecting: Full Playstation 2 ntsc Library Sealed

    Hey,

I just finished the interview I had with the only known collector to have a full sealed ntsc Playstation 2 collection (over 1850 games).

The Playstation 2 has one of the most extensive libraries of all consoles, trying to get a complete set is near madness..lbut he went for a complete sealed set!
Wanna know what drives this collector and wanna see his collection?

    http://www.playstationcollecting.com...library-sealed

Hope you enjoy the read as much as I enjoyed talking to him :)

Not so hard if you're a rich kid lol:

I bought 95% of my games at deals or the price they were when they were released. There are not many games that I had to pay more than retail for.
    Seriously? That'd be like 15-50$ for every PS2 game, 27.000-92.000 US$.

But basically it's nice to know that someone has a compilation of games like this somewhere. The search for perfect sealed copies alone has probably consumed more time than playing them. ^^

<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

yes the search for mint copies of some games was the worst he said (like picking up dozens of 1 single game to find a non-punched one)

    thanks for the comments guys!

I'm gonna find out where he lives and unwrap every single fucking one of them.

A sealed game is not a game.

Oh come on, it's not like his collection would constrain gamers from getting a certain game.

Wow that is incredible I remember starting a topic asking if anyone was going for a full set and he just casually said something like "yeah, I already have a full set". But now I learn its sealed too? That is just amazing. Both in time and effort. Plus of course the financial side.

GodofHardcore you are behaving like a jealous idiot. If someone pays for a game (full price no less) they can do whatever the hell they want with it. Im sure you own at least one game you don't play. Why not go give that away to someone who would play it?

I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Any game he has you can likely find used/scratched up and play it as much as you like.

But this guy has a mint collection, which means it will survive through the ages much longer and means there will always be a copy available - nothing will get lost to time.

You all love it when you see really old stuff still sealed - well, for that to happen someone like this guy needs to buy it and not open it for years when it is "current".

    Hoarding FTL.

    Museum pieces FTW.

Personally I don't collect sealed titles but if I REALLY like a game and already own a copy to play I'll pick up a sealed copy for the right price. Then again this guy could play any PS2 game and legitimately use back-ups to keep his collection pristine.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

a wise sealed collector once told me: "a stamp collector isn't laughed at because he isn't using the stamps to send mail, a coin collector isn't shunned because he doesnt buy stuff from his coins, so why should a game collector open and play his games?"

Horders are people that buy 3000 sealed copies of a late RPG to re-sell them 10 years later.
And I know at least one guy that does this kind of shit.

I don't see the problem with a guy that keeps one copy of every game sealed. What's the difference with someone that would keep one copy of each game unsealed ? None, there would be X-1 game available on the market (where X is the total amount of copy available)

Except for maybe 100 games (and that goes from nes to ps3), no game is difficult to find in a playable form (loose copy). Not mentionning that among his 1850 games, there's probably 80% of games you DO NOT want to play :p
And of course, not mentionning either that everything has been dumped ^^
