    Wow, great news!
I'll try it with my Saturn Jap 2.1 and bring feedbacks here.
It will be done in a couple of weeks I think.

Go d4s! I'll be checking out that ROM hack of Super Mario World, too, the other hack of his that I've played (for Mario Kart) is outstanding.

Oh sweet. Hope they can get the CD authentication checks worked out but IIRC the Saturn has checks on the CD controller side of things first that the BIOS can't really bypass. Not entirely sure.

Might be the final nail in the coffin for me deciding on buying a quality EPROM burner.

It would be great to get a direct replacement chip with the same encapsulation, i would love to try this bios, but i dont have time to solder wires, i wonder if the same bios ppl are using for Dreamcast will work ....

There isn't a chip that will fit directly.

I've had to use the DIP spider wired to the PCB when doing Snes Repro's too. I searched high and low for one in the same package as the original.

Is this easier to perform than installing the switch-less region mod? I take it is...

Probably about on par honestly. The difference is that with the switchless mod you gotta install a RGB LED and play musical chairs to find the region you want. With this you don't have to even think about it.

Gotcha, I bought one with switch-less region mod installed and I have the AR cart in the back as well so there's no need for me to consider this. Was just intrigued about the ease/use of this hack.

If he finds a debug command to unlock the drive that would be awesome making the modchip obsolete. But this is also great since it's a way to remove the need for region switches or other region defeating methods.

Yes but considering the luxury to have a Saturn with only one switch for frequency (for Euro user I mean) or a switchless frequency mod is great.
Even with the last option, you don't have to mod a led, since you actually see onscreen the frequency changes.

And it release your cartridge slot so you have a beautiful Original card of your choice.

I know it's only a matter of taste but I like to have original cartridge inside my Saturn. :-)

There isn't an official card for RAM and Saves in one is there? I agree with what you're saying but to have the ability to play games which need the RAM and have the save space without swapping the cartridge out all the time is amazing. Plus the cartridge slot itself is terrible and wouldn't last long being messed with constantly.

You're right for the messy cartridge slot.
For me it's only to know that my Saturn can do it you know...
    I know t's only luxury. ;-)

I should put my white AR4 in place in my white Saturn and don't move it anymore.

Just solder that bad boy and hide it internally.

Man. How close is this idea to completion? I'd go buy a gorgeous white Saturn now if true region free as seamless as a Gamecube, Dreamcast, or PS2 modchip has finally arrived. So much for my PC upgrade plans then. :-)
