How to open a pirate cart

I have Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons pirate cart. The battery is empty. So I would like to replace it. Unfortunately the cart has now screw on the backside.

Probably there is a screw under the label, but I'm not sure. Sometimes pirate carts are just clicked together. I don't want to destroy the cart. Does anyone have a hint how to open it?

Usually you have to feel the label for a little bit of give. If you feel it become softer in the centre, then you have a screw under it and you'll need to remove it to open it. Almost all pirate carts use screws for the GB. In the rare case that it doesn't, it would use latches on the left and right side or hot glue to keep it together.

They still sell replacement GB cases for pirates in China, but AFAIK they only offer screw based cases.

EDIT: I would also add that those that do use screws usually also use sliding locks. That is, you need to slide the faceplate off before separating the two half's to unlock it.

I found it, but there was no screw under the label. I think the cart is hold together by some latches.

every gb pirate cart I have has screw on the back along with some simple sliding latches, try holding the cart on the bottom and sliding the top half towards the cart connector

Battery replacement was no problem. However the cart has a huge downside: You can only store one savegame at a time. So if you have a savegame in Oracle of Ages and you start Oracle of Seasons you will destroy your Oracle of Ages savegame!
