I'm modding a Dreamcast for jamma. It will be powered from jamma power supply and in place of the Dreamcast power supply their will be internal controllers embedded inside the case.

I usually use spacers and standoffs for stuff like this, but I might not have room. If you have opened the dreamcast you know there is a plastic sheet under the power supply. Where can one source a larger sheet of this stuff, so I can cut to shape for the embedded controllers?

Kapton tape works wonders. If the sheet you are talking about is an orangeish color, then it is probably Kapton. The tape isn't too hard to find, but you might have to buy it online. If you're not worried about heat, then transparency film for printers will work too.

actually any tape will work, duct tape or electrical tape. But some modchip companies are using clear laminating paper(the self sticking kind), called "Self-Adhesive Laminating Sheets" for that clean look.


Edit: It's called "Avery 73601", really cheap stuff for what it does!

Yes, electrical tape works okay, but it doesn't like to adhere for very long. Duck tape should NEVER be used on a PCB, especially if you are worried about heat. Duck tape works well as an insulator, which can overheat chips. Plus the adhesive of duck tape can melt and run, getting into electrical connections. I ruined a couple of boards that way.
(Yes duck tape and duct tape are the same thing.)
