    Some More Nintendo Revolution News

There’s already been at least one dodgy “leak” before about the Revolution, but supposedly the same tipster who dished some reliable early dirt on the DS has also given up some details about Nintendo’s next-generation game console. Here’s what this guy is claiming:

    * That Nintendo is building gyroscopes into the controllers, presumably to add some sort of motion-control aspect to games.
    * The console will have dual processors and built-in broadband (we’re assuming Ethernet, but maybe also WiFi?).
    * There are no plans to connect the DS to the Revolution, but there could be some integration with the Game Boy Evolution.
    * The Revolution will have four controller ports, a hard drive, and support for high-resolution displays and Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound.
    * The console will be backwards-compatibility with GameCube games, and in what would only be a swipe at Sony, its drive will use HD-DVD, rather than Blu-ray, discs.
    * The console will launch with a new Mario game (of course), and there is a new Zelda game in the works.
    * There’s some teaser stuff at the end about how the truly “revolutionary” part of the new console is going to be something that “is nothing new technically speaking. It’s just something that hasn’t really been applied to video games before.” The tipster also claims that his source would only tell him that “touching is good but feeling is better.”

We’re not even going to front that this stuff is all for real or not—we simply won’t know for sure until Nintendo unveils this thing at E3.

    [Thanks, Striegs]

That line just blows the liability of that site out of the water. Best we wait for official news, not "leaks"

IT really does sound like this could be it for nintendo - This succeeds and it's ack to the early 90's heyday. It fails and they'll become a tiger/bandai, at least in terms of consoles (not necessarily in terms of handhelds).

Only thing that does worry me is the Dual processors. Taking the saturn as the obvious example, Most third party games looked worse on the saturn than the PS, and although the saturn undeniably had better hardware, it was underused. SO basically I'm saying Make it Bloody easy to program ninty.

Mind you, does sound like they are correcting a lot of mistakes if this spec sheet is to be believed - USing HD-DVD rather than propriety-ness, Networking built in, Mario launch game, And of course a few nintendo crazy/brilliant ideas (Gyroscopes, Feeling?? (Context sensitive...feel pads?))

Ahh don't worry nintendo, So long as theres a mario and zelda, You've got a buyer in me...

If it's dual quad core cpus, then it's party time.

We all know the power of the dual CPU G4.

I hope they succeed, for sony has no innovation.

No source? I hope for your sake it's not Sp0ng...

Really, I could come up with all those little 'leaks' myself, Nintendo isn't going to leak anything, we'll have to wait until E3.

Gotta agree with you whole heartedly though, Sony and MS are crap for gamers, There are nonew ideas, And very few old ones pulled off well (XBOX Live? Eyetoy?)

Not saying nintendo's innocent of these, But they are more willing to take risks recently (DS, Games like 4 Swords/CC with the linkup). The games industry needs a big rejig, Or as some would put it, They need to rearrange their bollocks and get rid of some of the cheese...

Only a swipe at Sony? Probably rather a way to maintain easy compatibility with the GameCube's disc format.

I hope they succeed, for sony has no innovation.
Pardon me? Every "128-bit" console except for the PS2 has had, in varying degrees, a PC-ish architecture. So at least on the front of machine architecture I'd say Sony is the most innovative of all, especially with the CELL coming up.

The source is below the quote. Please read things in their entirety before complaining.

And here's me thinking that it is better to listen to gossip than an official announcement. Why state the obvious?

Perhaps I was wrong in thinking that people here would be interested in some speculation about a new console.

The sorce bothers me. It is second hand, not confirmed, and a forum posts. Hell, after the fake Xbox pics and specs a few years back, I learned to trust no one besides the official sites and main gaming sites when it comes to game news.

Hell, just to show how easy it is: The Revolution will also have a built in waffle iron. That way, it can battle hunger as well as the EEEVVVIIILLL Microsoft and Sony in their battle of FUN!

Unfortunatly, Nintendo will only make the mini-waffle iron useable when you buy a Revolution, four GBA evolutions, and super happy fun time link cables. Don't forget that they control like crap, and mean jack in the long run!

Nah, You've both got it all wrong. It'll use toast as carts, With a mini heater in the back of the console which keeps it nice and warm, Then, When you get bored of the game, Whip out the cartridge, and eat it!

Using nintendo's patented ToastTouch technology you will never game hungry again!

And coming soon, the nintendo Revolution BS, And the Nintendo Game Boy Evolution TUVWXYZ, With built in marmite/jam/Peanut butter dispensors! Now Your Playing With Even More Flavour!

Ah I see now, the "feel" part is "feeling hungry" and after playing the new system "feeling full"

Utter genius, I laugh at the people who think Nintendo aren't inventive!

Can one get some sort of arthritis from crossing your fingers extremely hard for like... two years? or until whenever this comes and decides that nintendo will succeed?

Cos I might need Vioxx or something in the next years after waiting for revolution.

Please please please let this console succeed...

ninty is in a bad place: they need to make innovations, but at the same time be more like their competitiors. you know, Built-in Hdd, internet, more support to multi-media... but also something that inovate of the saturated environement that is the gaming industry.

something fresh that won't make third-party publishers run away.

Inovation can be scary, but who dares wins.

wasn't the NES the first plugable-into-the-tv toaster already? :smt043
"(...)A One World Government and one-unit monetary system, under permanent non-elected hereditary oligarchists who self-select from among their numbers in the form of a feudal system as it was in the Middle Ages. In this One World entity, population will be limited by restrictions on the number of children per family, diseases, wars, famines, until 1 billion people who are useful to the ruling class, in areas which will be strictly and clearly defined, remain as the total world population." Dont let media feed you with lies. open your eyes and search information yourself.
