While my RPG Thrirst is, for now, quenched (Still looking for DQ6 and Super Robot Taisen OG for a decent price and waiting for Devil Survivor), I want one of the new 3DS games.

Which one should I get: DOA: Dimensions or Blazblue?

I'm a fan of both series. I really LOVE fan-service and pantyshots, and I really love 2D fighters and exotic locations and characters.

And... well, In about two weeks, I'll have money to buy just one of these games.

    Which one should I get?

    Get DOA,

The d-pad placement on the 3DS is shit and I don't find 2D fighters on a stick to be much fun.

Is the Analogue stick (disc) any good? The WiiU uses it and it's a far cry from the precision of the N64's stick, not even close to the GC I suppose..I've fucked around with it in a store but I'd like a valid player's opinion. Enlighten me!
You can ask for any old woman
You can ask for an army of ants
You can ask for a pillar of poison
You can ask for sheep and shavers

    And you can die for

For a stick it works. I still prefer PS1/2/3 sticks more but it's a huge step up from the PSP.

    DOA Dimensions
If you want my indepth opinion on it my review is here:

BlzaBlue is plagued with slowdown from what I've read, which rather ruins the experience.

DOA is also cheaper, where I've looked.

And looking at what you say in your review, man, no contest.

Alright - next paycheck, DOA it is.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

BS. BlazBlue does NOT have a lot of slowdown. It doesn't have any that I see, and I play it 2D and 3D. What it does have is lots of unlockable achievements and modes and challenges, tons of voice acting, and impressive, smooth visuals.

I play fighters. Love 'um. I was impressed with BlazBlue on the D-pad. In fact, it became the only game I played on the system.

DOA... DOA... I'm a huge DOA fan. Love it, and I have since they released the Saturn version. I just got through playing DOA for the first time 3 days ago and was SO happy, SO SO SO SO SO happy I didn't spend any money on it. The textures in many of the stages are PS1 quality... especially the water textures. No granted, I've played DOA for every-and-a-year, but there was no reason, NO REASON that I should have been able to beat the ENTIRE GAME on normal mode in less than 10 minutes... but I did. Less than 10 minutes after being loaned it by a friend, I had beaten it.

IMHO DOA is a giant step back for the series. Yeah, it's cool we have portable DOA, but WTF is this??? It's DOA Lite.

How about you read more than one review before you make a decision?

So these guys were lying about the BlazBlue slowdown issues?

Granted, it is IGN, so it's possible I suppose. Like I said, I had read the game had issues, I didn't pick it up myself.

Also, Arcade Mode isn't the only thing in DOA: Dimensions.

Yeah, IGN is on crack. Unless they did something to the game between the Japanese release and American release, the PSP and 3DS should be near identical. If you take a look at the reviews in Japanese mags they say this. Nowhere was it criticized over here for having slowdown or sound issues.

But if you look at the reviewer's opening paragraph, he spills it all out there: American gamers are confuuuuuuused by Japanese fighting games.

BlazBlue is the one game I got for the 3DS that I couldn't put down... and I had very limited experience with the series before that, so I'm not speaking as a fan. It really reminded me of Vampire Savior, a game that I love.

Oh, ye of PSP bias! But really, BlazBlue's the only thing that impressed me on the 3DS so I feel I have to defend it. But I loves me some hot blooded PSP action, though!

I got to see the 3DS today demoing something other than Pilotwing. Got a taste of DOA and I came away mildly impressed. The 3D is actually pretty effective in this game...moreso than the tired Pilotwings that everyone's sampled to death by now.

The framerate does take a hit with full 3D effects, but it is impressive nonetheless. Still not buying one, but yeah

Bah, nothing of 3DS sucks and PSP awesome. Simply put BlazBlue is a 2D game and PSP has a slightly better resolution.

Now on the other hand, I love me some gundam and Gundam 3D battle is great fun in 3D on the 3DS and I want more (but crap sales of G3B will probably keep that from happening), PSP artdink Gundam/Macross games where starting to get stale and 3D just seems to be a good enough spark for the series. :love2:

Speaking of which, I think I need to go on another 3DS import spree soon but I might wait it out a few more weeks for Starfox (I want starfox, One Piece UC, Resident Evil & maybe Steel Diver if I can find a decent price).

Wow, someone's in a foul mood today...

Anywho, I've read the same type of good things about DOA in other reviews, but so far, I hadn't read a review of Blazblue other than the IGN one.

I love both series, but yeah, Blazblue is best on PC or X360 - It looks gorgeous there.

$ vs Euro doesn't matter so much, but the dollar's depreciation against the yen has definitely contributed to the higher pricing. Still, it's muy expensivo, IMO.

I still bought one at launch though, and don't regret it, but I'm a nut.

If you have never played DOA before or have played it casually, then it's fine on the 3DS because you don't notice what's missing graphically.

IMO the character models look PS2 quality, but a lot of the background textures are PS1. It's a weird mashup that's not aimed at DOA fans, but at introducing new people to the series.

I guess I have to look for someone else who has a 3DS and either of the games to see them first in 3D or something...

I really like both of the series.

It's different kinds of 3D. DOA has 3D like you've seen in other games, with some limited popping-out-at-you effect. BB has a layered 3D effect so there's depth to the background but nothing looks round... it's all sprites anyway. I would usually play BB with the 3D slider on half. I found that turning on the 3D sharpened the picture a little (for me, at least).
