And NZ please??
I'll go weigh it real quick.
Sorry guys, international shipping is $40 for 4 pounds, $33 for untracked economy (you'd need to agree to the risks)
Dumb question, so forgive me, but how easy/hard would it be to install a case for full-size DVD's? I don't know GC architecture at all, but if it's fairly easy, I'd probably pick one up.
You can use a modified lid to allow the top to fit full size DVDs. I don't know though if you can put 3 GC games on one DVD-R like you can on the Wii though, because it doesn't look like the laser would be able to reach the outer edge of the DVD since the Gamecube was made for the mini DVDs anyways, unless you modded the drive. It should still be able to do one game per DVD-R though, just not 3 like I can do on the Wii. (The program if you're interested is called GCOS Multiboot).
I'm not totally sure though since my GC is not chipped, only my Wii.

Yes. That is the whole point. They also remove the need for boot discs to bypass region protection though a handful of Japanese games require a font in the BIOS that simply isn't in the US BIOS. As a result you get garbage text.
To the above, the GC's laser is limited to the range of a mini DVD-R. There are replacement cases that are pretty easy to swap but you have to replace the entire case, not just the top half. At least last I checked.
The cases are hard to come by these days and typically are expensive. There is a Spanish site that has them in stock for a really good price but shipping back across the pond has gotta be a pretty penny.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.
