...what did you think we were talking about?

(I actually tend to towards your position, incidentally - I don't think this screenshot and the rumours based on it that were reported afterwards would cause any lasting financial damage to the company involved. I completely understand that it's a sensitive issue, though, and the developers have every right to be concerned that random internet forumites are screwing around and leaking information from a locked-down developer network.)

It was hidden in the marketplace. He had to have exploited PNet in some way in order to get it. It was not made freely available.

I actually leaked some DLC videos before it released and was announced.

This caused the company to announce it quickly xD

I wasn't in any form of trouble though.

    They were just pissed off.

And I thought this was over a leaked binary. I guess what I've learned here is that it's OK for any kind of journalism to leak shots of things early(like those pics from that Nintendo Cafe thing), but when it's a person not affiliated with anything, then how dare they!

Pretty much have to side with segaloco here, this is pretty dumb :X I can understand all of this from the point of view of how robert_kendo had to do some kinda tricky hacking in order to get the shots though, but then again why the heck is there a console out there that easily lets people access a network full of unreleased stuff? I'm not up to date on next-gen consoles, but from what I understand, this PNet thing is one of the dumbest things they could come up with.

Playing devil's advocate and going from the info I have I'd say you can't really get him for announcing the game since it has been somewhat of an open secret for a while now.

As for the photos everyone assumes he got them from PNet but that isn't proof. While they very likely did originate from PNet how do we know that he was originally responsible? For that matter how do we know that they were stolen? For all we know someone sent them to him and he just passed them on.

I liken this to spy photos taken of new cars. Do you think if MotoTrend got a hold of some photos of a new Porsche they wouldn't post them?
Well, it's rather brutal here. Right now we are advising all our clients to put everything they've got into canned food and shotguns.

Side note, he also had leaked shots of the BloodRayne XBLA game on his site. Everything has since been removed.

Just a series of bad decisions that unfortunately had harsher repercussions than usual.

I wonder if someone here sold it to him.

    Doh nevermind.

    screen shot of XBL games?

I would never have guessed that anyone would care

The quality of the shots rarely matter when it comes to being the first to post them.

Money gets people do things they don't like to do.

Do you need or want something. Well no one cares.

    Answer = money.

    Now they care.

    Why?

Because no one cares what they need or want.

Then we all burn out from working 20 hours a day and still be backlogged. Submissions are being taken for new ideas.

I know I know, my mom has told me the same thing, humanitarianism is dead and everything is for maximizing profits. Still, it's sad when a cure is found to a disease or something in that vein and it goes nowhere because it can't get funding (the fact that money even needs to be involved is ludicrous but still) because it cannot be sold by corporations, so they won't allow it to be made or researched because it threatens their business. However, I still believe there is an extent where business no longer remains business but becomes organized evil, bent on oppressing the majority of the human race for the sake of it's high position and profits. There is our bourgeoisie. I leave you with that. Although my scenario details much more important things than video games, I still think it is accurate in that corporations have lost sight of who they are even working for anymore.

People have to be stupid to leak pictures of "to be released" games, just my 2 cents.

Correction, people have to be stupid to leak pictures of games not yet announced/released that can be directly tied to their person.

Seriously. In this day and age if you can't hop on a bus, hit up a Starbucks to use their wifi with TOR to do something like this YOU ARE A HUGE FUCKING IDIOT!

Putting aside all other facts that is. He is going to have much fun with Microsoft.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

Or you could say that without the incentive of billions of dollars many cures would never have been found. If money really doesn't matter to you then this should make you happy. Companies work round the clock to find new cures and save lives and in return all they get is money. If money is what is important to you than you are a slave to it. If life is precious then let them have the money. The companies are the slaves. There, I just empowered you. lol

Same with games but as you say lesser extent. If your enjoyment is more important to you than having lots of money who cares. Buy what you enjoy. Hopefully some trickles down to those who work hard to bring you your favorite games.

I am still really shocked that this is a big deal. My reaction was huh? What Alan Wake game?<shrug> ohh DLC <shrug>. Perhaps they can blow this all out proportion and turn it into the best advertising campaign in the history of the company. Hmm.

New cars hide in plain sight. This hide in a private network, not the same thing.

I think this is more than the screenshots though - its the fact he would have had the game to make the screenshots that he could potentially release that too, especially as he posted stupid shit that had to be deleted regularly.

It could just be a storm in a teacup, but if you're going to be somewhere you shouldn't, one would think you are not stupid enough to steal from there then advertise it all over the world, especially somewhere under close scrutiny from the owners!

You would think after that idiot selling Splatterhouse and worse Kendo having been temp banned or warned for several current gen or prerelease warnings he would have understood that no means no.
