    Delisoba Deluxe = Hang-on + Cruis'n USA

In case anybody wondered how this insane-priced game looks and plays like, satakore.com put up some pictures and videos. It actually looks like a semi-fun game.

    http://www.satakore.com/news146,,Delisoba-Deluxe.html

Delisoba Deluxe is one of the most sought after "not for sale" title on the Sega Saturn and probably the most well known.

It is not the most expensive title (2-3 other titles are more expensive than Delisoba Deluxe) but nevertheless it fetches high price on the market. If you are lucky enough, you can find it complete in mint condition for about 450-500 Euros (55 000 Yens / 700 USD as of today) but you have more chance to find it for more, likely 750 Euros (85 000 Yens / 1 000 USD).

It is also not the rarest title of the Sega Saturn library. Despite its value, you can find it quite easily in Japan. On the "rarest scale", you can count more than 15 titles (games and not for sale titles) that are more difficult to get. As always, expensive does not mean rare.

Delisoba Deluxe (which stands for Deliver Soba), developped by Cave, is a "game" given away at the Tokyo Friend Park II TV-show made by TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System). In this show, contestants have to complete a certain amount of mini-games, one of them being Delisoba. This is "a two player game in which one player races to checkpoints in a video game to deliver soba in a set amount of time, while the other sits at the back and holds the soba to be delivered. If the player crashes into an obstacle in the game, the players on the seat will also feel the impact and drop the delivery they are holding, simulating what occurs in the video game" (description found on the internet on different websites, original publisher unknown).
Delisoba Deluxe for Sega Saturn is the remake of this mini-game.

Some years later, the Delisoba mini-game has been updated and has been named Delisoba Gold. Here is the official page at http://www.tbs.co.jp/tfp2/atr_soba.html

You can find some videos of the actual TV-show on Youtube. Here are 2 of them showing Delisoba mini-game:
    - Delisoba
    - Delisoba Gold

For the first time on the internet (in my knowledge), here are some screenshots and a video (Youtube + downloadable high quality) showing Delisoba Deluxe in action: http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-...eluxe-JPN.html

What's the game font used for the majority of menus and the high score table? I swear I've seen it before on another game.

Has this game ever been dumped? Looks like a fun little time waster but not £500+ worth of a time waster.

Nah, we didn't even have any footage till yesterday. If I had the money, I'd buy and dump it (along with Heim Waltz and Eyeful Home), but that won't be happening for a while.

I located one for a user here ages ago and played it then. Let's just say it leaves a lot to be desired.

Was developed by non other than Cave. O_o

Put it one way, it's a million times better than Eyeful Home and Waltz. Two others which I own but nope, they've never been dumped nor will they or at least not by me. You don't shit on your own doorstep, now do you?

Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru have all been dumped and they still go for 100-200-400$ each.

That was my thinking. It's not going to impair on the price of the official disc because so few exist, collectors will always want a legit copy.

Still with me, you legend you!
(Got a sealed copy for only 5k yen more too. Steal imo ;-) )

As long as there's multiple copies out there. Far be it for me to tell people what to do with their own hard-earned possessions, but I'm always a tad concerned when a game is in the hands of extremely few people just in case it disappears into oblivion.

That aside, this looks like a rather interesting title after watching the Retro Core coverage.

That's because people want to play them and they are regular games. The dumping of a not for sale item will harm the value and rarity of the item more. Haven't you wondered why nobody EVER posted videos, screen shots or even decent scans of the game? It was to keep that mystery that surrounded it.

Personally I thought at least videos should be shown which is why I made one but under no circumstances would I ever dump it or Eyeful Home or Waltz. Well, tell a lie, I have dumped all three to use rather than the originals but they'll never leave the CDR they are dumped to.

Now, the dumping of an unreleased title is a whole new area as far as I'm concerned and one that I'd go for but let's not go in to that:nod:

Mh, are you sure about that? Rare hibaihins like Delisoba are exclusively sought after by die-hard collectors, those who only want to play it are not likely to spend 1000$ on it. So how could a bootleg decrease the value of an item that's only desirable for hardcore-collectors? Or, to put it in other words, why would someone decide not to spend 1000$ on a Saturn hibaihin anymore because he now has a sleazy CD-R? :)

I wouldn't be interested in a release because I want to buy it at some point anyway. I think it looks like a really fun game (Road Rash, anyone?) actually, but I'd want to play the original.

There's no footage of either because there's nothing to watch, they are demo discs, it's evident that they have little to no gameplay on them.

Getting dumped does not affect the price if the item is extremely rare like these. People don't buy those 20000$ NES carts for the gameplay value either.

What you see is all it is. You go round, either beat the time, or you don't. Track editor too to move the obstacles iirc.
You are entitled to your opinion and feel free insult people (myself included) provided it does not constitute harassment in the unmoderated thread, private message or even face to face but as your signature is seen in moderated areas too your derogatory comment has been removed.

    >Please< don't abuse your signature in this way again, wheelaa. That goes for the rest of you too! Self-deprecating comments are welcome though (within reason)!

This website reckons the game was based on Courier Crisis, is this true or just an assumption?

    http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/05/06...classic-games/

It seems a tad hard to believe it was based on Courier Crisis given Courier Crisis was released in mid-1998.
