Yes, you must get Star Control II. I bought my 3DO just to play this game. The voice acting is great, and oftentimes hilarious.

More like one of the best games ever. The 3DO release added some amazing things to it, including an awesome, CD quality soundtrack. The Hyperspace theme is the best.
So is the sense of humor.
If you must play any game before you die, Star Control II is it.
(If I had a reason to get any 3DO console, Star Control would be it, too.)
Starfighter should be on the top of anybody's 3DO list. It is a mission based free roaming space shooter that allows you to fly off planet and back to the surface in real time. It was the top reason why I wanted a 3DO, and yes it blows away the PC, Saturn (glitched) and PS1 versions.
Horde is the one funny game too. For Star Fighter - yes it's the best port. Wolfenstein 3D is the mac version on steroids with better soundtrack.
