Cost to mail a EverDrive first class internationally is really not that much.

I followed the instructions on the Altera website to the letter - plugged the device in, told it to search in the "<Quartus Install Dir>\drivers\usb-blaster" directory (and all of the others for good measure when that didn't work).

Windows always responds back that it couldn't find any drivers for the device.

I have also tried forcing it to use the drivers by going through Device Manager, selecting the device, telling it to update, saying "Have Disk", pointing to the drivers directory, selecting USB Blaster for the device type and installing.

In the latter case, Windows recognizes the device, says the drivers were successfully installed, but Quartus just says "No Hardware" when I go to configure it.

Is there a place I could get the firmware update file in XSVF or SVF format? I don't have a USB Blaster but I have a Bus Pirate that can program Altera logic chips with XSVF/SVF programming files.

personally i never did not try to use svf and bus pirate, so possible that you will erase your current firmware and will not be able to write new without usb blaster

One other question. I would like to solder a socket to put the CIC chip in instead of soldering the chip directly on the board. If I do that, will I be able to install the board in a N64 Cartridge plastic shell and be able to close it?

I would like to be able to remove the CIC chip in case something bad happen (bad CIC... who knows) but I want to reduce the amount of time a soldering iron touches the EverDrive board.

There is no real reason for installing a socket. Unless you burn the hell out of the CIC chip trying to solder it in it will be fine and won't go bad.

    startup problems

    Hi!

I received my EverDrive 64 week ago, and what a great device! Only if it would work all the time.

I have following problem, normally the cart will not boot, only black screen in TV and the green and red leds light permanently. Reset does not work, not switch power on-off.

Only thing that helps is to remove the cartcase and wiggle the cart a bit and try to switch the console on until it boots to the menu. I have tried this with two different N64 consoles and it is the same. Both consoles work fine with original carts.

After I get the EverDrive to boot and start playing, game may freeze after certain time (10 min - few hours), and if I then switch off-on, both leds are again permanently on and I have to wiggle it again.

I have soldered the cic 7101 chip myself, and I have checked connections several time. I have also cleaned the pin connector from both consoles several times.

It does not matter if the SD card is inserted or not, same problem.

Any idea what might be wrong? I believe it is some physical defect, because wiggleing helps...

I got my ED64s in yesterday, thanks for combining shipping Krikkzz!

By the way, does the group have a preferred self adhesive paper for printing labels? Oh, and there isn't a soft reset from the controller is there?

'wiggling helps' sounds more like your n64s slot needs cleaning.

sheath: I just used some cheap sticky paper from kinkos personally

Hi everyone, i've got exactly the same problem, i tried to run my everdrive hundreds of time, but it worked only just one time, during few minutes...

Like Jocu3, i have soledered the cic by myself too (Pal CIC 6105), checked connections several time too... cleaned too...

I tried to make it run on two different N64, they work perfectly with an original game, but the everdrive don't work.

Please i really need help, i'm very sad now...

you should use cic6102. 6105 will not work. also you said that 6105 PAL, but actually 6105 it is NTSC cic
you should use 6102 for NTSC or 7101 for PAL
