As far as I know only Banjo and Jet Force need the 6105. Thats like making the EverDrive-MD work with the Virtua Racing chip. A big waste of money and resources.

Time would be better spent trying to modify those ROMs to work with the 6102 IMO.

Jet Force already has a patch that should work, Tooie is the remaining problem game, hopefully someone with the skills will resurface to save the day

    - If KRIKzz decides to make his cart menu compatible with 6105, maybe like he said with a dipswitch or jumper, then you could just install a 6105 instead of the 6102 and run all the games.

    - If you install the default 6102 then you can also run all the games minus Banjo Tooie.

There is no need to install 2 cic's other than the situation in which you have both a NTSC and PAL N64 and want to use the Everdrive on both.

Those games are so cheap, cartridge only.

Just like Virtua Racing, I just bought it and I'll do the same with those.

So all 6102 games will run with the 6105?

good question, I don't really know maybe KRIKzz or Chilly Willy can elaborate. I was of the impression that the bootemu relied on a 6102 and was why 6102 is the chosen chip since with the bootemu you get the most compatibility + 6102's are common

    because 6102 easy to find.
i personally not tested 6105, but i think than any game will work with 6105

I'm surprised so many people seem to be concerned about 2 games not working on the cart. Is it really the case that so many people want to play Banjo-Tooie and Jet Force Jemini, or is it just the mental issue of knowing there are 2 games they won't be able to play on the ED64? If people want to play those games so badly, they can both be found very easily and for quite cheap.

Its mental I think, ever since DSP-1 version of Super EverDrive came out I sell DSP-1 version of Super EverDrive way more than DSP-1-less version. Really there aren't that many great DSP-1 games either, but people are willing to pay $20 more for it.

I think if ED-MD had a version that played Virtua Racing and cost $20 more some people would pay it. This is not a knock on those people I know some people just like best or most complete version of whatever. Its just kind of interesting.

    Hi Krikzz,
I personally would like to see the option of using a 6105 CIC. The reason for this is because I own a V64jr and I can honestly say that dealing with ROM patching can be a real pain. Additionally (and this is a big one), many of the patches for games that actually used FlashRAM for saving had the save routines rewritten so that that the game would save to SRAM instead. This doesn't sound too bad, except that because the FlashRAM is 128K, and the SRAM is only 32K, most of these patches limited you to only saving in a single save slot. Lastly, as far as I know, the bootemu should allow you to boot all games without any patches when using a 6105.

Basically, if I am going to upgrade from my V64jr (which I plan to), I want a device that will allow me to boot and save all games using "virgin" ROM images, not some patched versions of the ROMs. That's not to say that there weren't some cool intros included with the patches back then...

i repeating that you not need to patch 6105 games for play them on ED64 with cic6102 just because cart have a build in boot eulator which allow play any games on cic6102. only two games does not work by this way

  13. #253
and one of that two games already have a patched version that will work or a least we guest, I try to find the patched rom to download but no luck, but I found these topic in these same forum xD link here were has the patch for z64 units, I guess its the sane for other units

Here's a quick question. Which romset are you using Krikzz? I ask because I know that the headers are different between No-intro and GoodN64 and am just curious if this will make any difference?

    GoodN64

Nah, I'm not really concerned about those 2 games. Just curious in case someone would actually want "100% N64 game compatability". If I really wanted them, I'd go buy them. As long as Starfox 64 and Ocarina of Time work, I'm all in!

It's kinda like the SED with DSP-1; from that list of DSP-1 games, I only really wanted to play 2 of them, and one I already own (Super Mario Kart). So I'm REALLY happy with my SED, MED, and ED-MD!
    ...console emulation has no soul...

  17. #257
Perfect! Thanks for the quick response. I'm curious though if No-intro will have any issues. I know that goodsets is the way that most dumping tools read the games. From what I understand No-intro changed the header around since I guess that is how it is actually stored on the cartridge according to them. You may want to do some testing with that as well.

  18. #258
are you sure they used actual different headers? I was of the impression the only difference is that no-intro forces the V64 rom format now

edit: I can't say with certainty but I know on Everdrive-MD KRIKzz has onboard controller to switch the roms automatically during flashing from interleaved/uninterleaved to the appropriate format, I'm guessing he is including the same onboard functionality in ED64?

i only can say that all roms which i tried works fine. some of them has swoped data inside, but cart can recognize them and force byte swop on hardware level. the only thing in header which used by OS it is rom id, it used for recognize save type, but anyways user can force manually any save type if need

For JFG it would the the first two downloads of that page (NTSC/PAL version)

no-intro and Goodn64 are the same despite the fact that no-intro is in V64 byteorder and Goodn64 is in Z64 byteorder. Also the no-intro set only contains the best version of each rom while Goodv64 also has cracked versions or overdumps etc.

I made a .xls list of all the N64 games with their savetype and rom id that we used for the Neo Myth Menu.
Until now no one complained about any errors, so I guess it should cover 99% of the games with cartridge save.
Feel free to use the list(see attachment) for your cart. It should save you some time :-)

You can see a possible implementation of the list in the source code of the myth menu.
