    Arrrgh my eyes...

One sad thing about all the original artwork is that it tends to stay in private collections rather then being shown in museums and galleries.

Most of it was thrown away in the trash. Only the people who cared enough and took the time to make sure it survived have any remaining pieces today.

since you mentioned disney, hopefully that gives me an excuse to post my disney sketch? Hopefully you don't mind. As sadly I don't have any game art I can share :(

This thread wasn't intended to be just about arts and sketches, but it's gone in that direction and it's been a good thread so far.

Feel free to share any rare or unique neogeo items you have.
    .
Thanks a lot Dion that's very kind.

I don't have it professionally framed but I've been meaning to. Need to figure out just the right place to hang it.

As for selling it... jeez I don't know. I'd have to have a very strong offer for it. I do like it quite a bit.

As for neo geo rarities, I'd just be embarassing myself, I haven't been collecting that long :/

Random shot of the original neogeo game arts, chafracter arts, logos, all on positive film format. These are used to make promo material, inserts, for magazines, etc....

    .
We have THOUSANDS of original arts on both positive and negative film formats, digital MOs, zip and jazz cartridges, and later on CDrom.

NeoGeo aes distributor in France, Guilemot International.

Guilemot printed French aes manuals in black/white print.
Back of the manual included their distributor information and logo.

There are also black/white manuals from the south american aes distributor, NeoGeo do Brasil. These may be looked down upon by collectors, but I find them all very interesting.

Something most people don't know, NeoGeo Brasil CDZ system box was in full color.
Very rare to find the full color CDZ box from NeoGeo Brasil.
Japanese CDZ box was in black/white.
SNK-USA did not release the CDZ (very stupid).

I think Bluevoodoo had a couple for sale years back. Rare indeed.

(I recall someone once referred to it as the 4th NGCD system lol. Got a lot of people very excited, only to then be shot down in flames when they realised it wasn't 'new' hardware....)

So why didn't CD games feature the genre stripes?

The cds didn't feature genre stripes cause they all stated the genre on the spine, spine card, and manual: fighting, action, shooting, puzzle, sports, racing, variety.

The cds also included some funny descriptions:
battle action, super battle fighting, 3d shooting, 3d fighting, katana battle fighting, space shooting, to name a few.

Actually "Brazil" is the "ancient" form of the country name...
An language reform in the early 20th century changed to "Brasil" and also removed some letters from the alphabet. A few years ago they added the letters "Y" and "W" back but I still don't see people using them ...

Basically "Neo Geo do Brasil" is portuguese for "Brazilian Neo Geo company" (company is "implied" on that portuguese phrase by context as it means the name of an corporate entity...)

SNK had a great deal of success here in Brazil, even though they never bothered making games with portuguese language text.

Capcom did, but that's another story, for another thread ...
