Worlds Scariest Police Chases: Deadly Pursuit for Dreamcast

Ok, since Half-Life has already been released, I would have to say that this is my "Holy Grail", more so than any other game for the system, becuase it used the microphone to allow you to call for backup and other various voice commands.

I remember seeing it in a DC magazine back in 99, and it looked very promising.

Here is an article on the game by IGN.

I know the game was developed by Teeny Weeny Games and was going to be published by Fox Interactive.

Does anybody else have any more info about this game, and does anybody know if it was ever shown in videos running on original Dreamcast hardware? I reckon all the screenshots are on a Dreamcast, but besides that, I haven't seen anything else.

Anybody know why it was canceled?

Looks like a GTA wanna be with poor textures and low poly models. Apparently it was called "Felony Pursuit" at some point in time. Some more screen shots:

PC version though, also cancelled. I like the abuse of fog there, looks almost as bad as Turok.

    Addendum:

Apparently there was a game made and released for this series in 2001:

    Wikipedia sez:
A video game based on the series was released for the PlayStation in 2001, entitled World's Scariest Police Chases, also featuring Bunnell. The game received mixed reviews, ranging from a 3.5/10 from Gamespot.com, to a 9/10 from Official PlayStation Magazine (UK).
ROFL at OPM clearly getting paid off to write a good review.

Virtually all of the 4-5 star reviews are duplicates from the same 3-4 people.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

I think its normal that a magazine focused in a console would gave high score to its exclusives, even if they were shitty.

BTW, i found a footage of world scariest police chases 2

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO-s3VRrScc

the channel its from one of the developers, according to him, it was almost complete, but vivendi cancelled it.

PS2 footage (XBox and PC version shared the same assets).
So the entire game would've looked like garbage because the devs were lazy? Classic porting technique for that era though.

There is a psone version (the only one released). Maybe I am mistaken, but there is a game with World's Scariest Police Chases name. It was actually not a bad game.

The Dreamcast version looks bloody awful. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the PlayStation 1 game ported over. They did that with a few games. One of the worst was Nightmare Creatures. Man, that looked so bad. Even for a PlayStation game it looked shit.

Yeah, the graphics are not the best, but at the time, it and Driver 1 were the only really good looking 3d open world sandbox driving games.

I did play a game on PS1 wayyy back in the day with the same name, but I only rented it and never saw the white Chevy Camaro cop car.

Still, it would be pretty awesome to see this game, as the use of the microphone to call in backup would be very interesting to see, what with Seaman and Hey You, Pikachu! already doing pretty good voice recognition back in 99-2000.

giant bomb has two screens from a convention, possible e3 2000, notice there are keyboard and cars have interiors.

Also this is a good site if you are looking for beta images.

The only things I rememb from DC-UK was that it was to be a co-op game, where the second player could shoot the cars... At first I thought the second player could ACTUALLY use the DC gun, but at second thought it's just a game like 'the Dukes of Hazard' (PS2/Xbox), where you could shoot things with the cursor. And that it was finally only released on the PS1, yep...

I managed to find a sealed copy of the PS1 version of this recently at a car boot sale. Nothing exciting but will probably hold onto it for a while, never know could be worth more than £1 one day!
