Yes but thats not innovation either that's just taking shit loads of the latest (and already used elsewhere tech) and shoving it into a handheld.

In all fairness, parallax barrier screens (like the one the 3DS uses) have been used in other devices, like a Fujifilm 3D camera and I believe there's a GPS unit that uses it. It just hasn't been used in a gaming device before.

Honestly, the reason to have a 3DS is for all the cool (mostly 1st party) games that are coming out for it. As far as why you should have one right now, it's basically so you get to play around with it early. I can totally understand why people would want to wait, though.

I'm not going to blab my mouth but the NGP has a lot more going on then the 3DS. Just have to wait till E3/TGS.

Of course the NGP has more going on than the 3DS. So does the iPad. Of these three objects one is a gaming device; the other two are tablet PCs, one of which is having an identity crisis.

By your logic every piece of gaming hardware would have to immediately be considered innovative prior to its release.

It'd be like walking around two years ago saying:
"Show me a portable with two screens, the bottom of which is a touch screen, and a friggin' camera AND both screens are like, 4.2 in. wide! Doesn't exist? Yeah, innovative son!"

or going back to early 1998 and saying:
"Show me a Gameboy with some goddamn color! Nintendo be 'vatin' son!"

That statement is false. The 3DS is not the first non-monochromatic glasses-free 3D screen. They've had them in labs and such for years, and there have even been other consumer products that use it. See here: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/3d/camera/

I do. It's the only 3DS game I have at the moment (I have 4 more games coming but still waiting on delivery, damn post!!)

For that I say wait till TGS as I think once Japanese devs get on board you'll see some interesting uses for the duel touch surfaces.

I've had a few ideas my self but need art to build a proto of it.

However, I am simply stating that it seems more like an iPad to me than something I would purchase for gaming purposes. Nintendo already did the touch screen gimmick, so Sony adding more "touch surfaces" is equivalent to the jump from Wii to Kinect (well, maybe not exactly, since the Kinect is actually a solid basis for a lot of neat tech, just not so interesting for gaming).

I think you need to stop acting like the NGP is your child or something. Not all of us feel the need to throw ourselves at the feet of the almighty Sony. :shrug:

How is stating an opinion making something up?

I feel that Sony's handheld products are more like iPads, or souped up cell phones without the ability to call people. That is my opinion.

If you said you felt the 3DS was a toy, and was a souped up Game&Watch or something, chances are I wouldn't really care. ;-)
