***Original Thread title: My Thoughts on Recent Events in SNK forum, what your opinion?

Didn't wanted to add to the drama going on but at the same time I must say I'm quite disappointed by how this is handled by forum admins.

I always see the Assembler community has a great place where video games fans can exchange about their passion in a civilized manner. At the same time it's the only place where you had the chance to meet people from the industry who want sharing what was happening behind the doors.

I good example is monkfish who came over there and share a lot of interesting information about what was going on at SEGA. He even let the community buy the famous Geist Force proto. Other member contribute to the community by posting video/photo of rare prototype software/hardware (willis82's videos of Dezaemon 3D 64DD expansion disk come to my mind), others members share their passion by taking pictures of their collection (like I do) and etc....


Now we have Dion coming here and from What I see, he didn't really want to contribute to the community. Some people asked simple question about the possibility of releasing ROM binary of some unreleased Neo games. Thoses questions never got answered although it's quite simple to answer: YES or NO.

Others asked for video or picture of some games: nothing. I just saw picture of him...

The only thing Dion seam to be willing to share is his glorified version of NGF history. And like I said I'm quite disappointed that admins are letting this going on. Like if they are trying to avoid hurting Dion so he keep post here.


There's no smoke without fire, if so much people are unhappy their must be a reason....

I'm interested in other opinion, what you think about all this???

Kevin, people in the Neo community want answers from Dion. These people have been trying to get "A" single response from Dion for a long time and now he comes out of hiding. With his history that I know only 1 side about, I wanted to hear his side as well. But when you dodge questions and requests it makes that 1 side I know sound more truthful. That is why it needs to be cleared up.

The thing that bothers me so far is that any time a pertinent question that is potentially embarrassing to Dion is asked, that line of enquiry gets shut down.

Over the years there have been many heated debates here, as will happen on any forum of this size. When things become personal, when it descends into name-calling, obviously moderators are required to cool the situation. What I've never seen here before is the admin stepping in and outright forbidding questions that are completely legitimate. I don't know why this is happening now. As long as the discussion remains civil I see no need for it, and it seems like other members agree.

I must admit that what I hate of forums in general is that some forum staff exerciser their power in a dictatorship manner.

I've been around for like 3 years and that was never the case, it was my believe that this forum was the best managed forum ever. Lot of issue was manager the right way I think, like problem with member GodOfHardcore some year ago or more recently problem with xbox 360 forum...

But since a week it's seam like it's becoming more like a dictatorship with post deleted and all..

I can see why TonK is very upset with you right now.

I don't prefer to scream at him and I have never done so. In fact, I asked my first questions of him only today, which were nothing but normal.

If I am honest too, I think after seeing what TonK posted it seems to me you are only trying to use him to see what information you can get out of him, and the interest you are showing publicly isn't really that genuine.
